Fight of the year for 1979-your opinions

Post by goose 5 »

Danny Lopez versus Mike Ayala won the award but I think Matthew Saad Muhammad versus Marvin Johnson 2 was the better fight. What do you guys think ?

You honestly can't go wrong with either fight. Both are in my all-time top 10 favorite fights without even hesitating to think.

You can't. Though I would slightly favor Saad-Johnson ll.

Shavers won one round, Vito 2 or 3. The former certainly had the drama and the latter the robbery.

If you're looking for some others to slide behind those two, benitez/palomino, Duran/palomino and Holmes/Weaver are more appropriate.

Hagler's dominance notwithstanding, Hagler-Antuofermo I was a fantastic brawl.
