Terribly sad news. He blew hot and cold but was impressively smooth at his best.

When the cruiserweight division was first announced I was a fan of the division.
Carlos DeLeon was my favorite cruiser back in the day.
A bunch of good memories watching him.

Carlos De Leon 1959-2020

According to Wikipedia, 4 time world Cruiserweight champion Carlos Sugar De Leon has passed away, on January 1 of a heart attack in Buffalo, NY.

He had a record of 53-8-1 (eerily the same exact record Wilfred Benitez had) with 33 ko's in his case.

He beat Marvin Camel 2 times, St Gordon, Bernard Benton, Leon Spinks and drew with Johnny Nelson, lost to Gordon, Evander Holyfield and Alfonzo Ratliff. He also beat Yaqui Lopez, Anthony Davis and Michael Greer.

Its a shame he is not in the IBHOF yet. He should be.

RIP champ!
