On paper it's Golovkin, cause at that moment he was a proven best fighter of his division, still in his prime. Those things can't be said about Jacobs and Kovalev. However, it's a very arguable win.

Jacobs.
He lost both GGG fights fairly clearly. Kov was a good win.

Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
Kovalev should be the answer, but something didn't seem quite right about that fight.

You're c u n t-bruised and arse-ruptured because you're unable to score a fight.

Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
KOVALEV--- scored canelo vs GGG2--- 6 ROUNDS TO 6 ROUNDS---DRAW
Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
GGG 2 and it's not close. Everyone claimed Canelo was going to get stopped due to him not being on roids like they desperately believed he was in the first fight. Not only did Canelo not get KOed, he came forward the entire fight, had GGG on his back foot and scared to throw anything other than a jab due to being scared of the counters coming back from Canelo. Canelo landed the bigger more effective eye catching shots throughout the fight and was rewarded with a well deserved close UD.
The first fight with GGG was also very close, a draw was IMO a fair decision, although if there was a winner I felt it was GGG that deserved the nod, but it wasn't a robbery like some claim.

Must be you weren't around at the time.. I don't know.. but that was a very popular opinion around these parts leading up to the second fight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑08 Jan 2020, 15:38Lol not even close to everyone claimed that, I agree though he won clear and impressiveNateJR wrote: ↑08 Jan 2020, 15:35 GGG 2 and it's not close. When. I say everyone I don't literally mean "everyone".
Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
Golovkin 2. Canelo fought 3 minutes of every round, just about. He came forward and truly put it on the line. He was hurt badly in round 9 yet didn’t go down, and though clearly weakened, maintained a good work rate down the stretch. Whether he deserved the nod or not, he fought his arse off, from start to finish, probably for the only time.
Although the KO of Kovalev is the most impressive result, the decisive win that he needed, the performance to close the Golovkin rivalry was the finest and most committed.
Some feel that Canelo-Golovkin 2 is reminiscent of McCallum-Toney 1. Canelo being Toney. Both are economical fighters who have been known to throw fewer punches than older opponents. Both accurate counter punchers. And in Toney’s career, you can see the energy conserving throughout. Only in 2 or 3 fights did you see Toney leave everything in the ring - Nunn (when JT seemed more exhausted winning than Nunn counted out), McCallum I (could barely speak in the post fight interview) & Jirov.

Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
I dont think he was so badly hurt. But avoiding maybe 10 punch from combinations in matrix fashion right after being cleanly hit by that bomb was one of the best moments of Canelo career.

It's Kovalev for me even though he I thought he cherry picked I didn't think he was going to stop him. Stop him was impressive again every though he cherry picked.

I definitely saw a shudder through both legs and it seemed his power was greatly reduced afterward.
I feel it’s Canelo’s phenomenal chin that kept him up and that most would’ve been broken by that shot. It was the punch Golovkin had been waiting for throughout their rivalry, IMO. And it wasn’t quite enough to score the knockdown and seal the fight.

Trout and Jacobs are probably Canelo's best wins in close fights.

Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
What people doesn't bring into discussion is that since Canelo started his boxing career(2005) he fought a lot of cannon fodder, small and washed up fighters (42 fights) until he had his first top fight against Trout. Canelo was slowly and carefully brought up and developed as a fighter.
Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
Agreed, although he did have two fights with future lightweight champ Miguel Vazquez while he was growing as a teenager.
And also, given he was a teenager with minimal amateur experience when turning pro, every fight was a learning experience. So for him to have 50-ish fights was good for his development.
Admittedly, I don’t like such fights as Matthew Hatton, an aged Mosley and gutsy, two weights smaller Josesito Lopez as world title fights. These are more, prospect developing fights, sold as something much bigger.

Re: Which Canelo win is most impressive?
The thing is his team did a great job with him but also Cabelo was coddled as a fighter as he got a very questionable SD win vs Lara, a questionable-undeserved draw against Golovkin and that MD loss decision against FMJ which should've been a very clear UD loss for Canelo.Autobarn wrote: ↑09 Jan 2020, 09:18 Agreed, although he did have two fights with future lightweight champ Miguel Vazquez while he was growing as a teenager.
