I think it makes perfect sense for Joyce. The four ‘world’ belts are probably tied up for the entirety of 2020 unless someone picks him as a voluntary, and age isn’t on his side.

Dubois has a bit of hype behind him and is being pushed hard by BT. A win over him could help push Joyce into the frame as a reasonably lucrative voluntary, or at least heighten the chances of that

Bit of a Lewis v Mason flavour, and probably with much the same result for the more athletic fighter. Joyce will presumably be hit at will, and has the disadvantages of already being the older, slower fighter. Still interesting as a bit of a test for the much more talented Dubois.

Hopefully this comes off, Dubois would be favourite but at least it makes for an interesting fight to test him and much more of a test than the Gorman fight was

The gloves are off for this one will be electric

Best chance Joyce has is if he starts throwing punches now, they might land by the time the fight starts

People may laugh at slow Joe, but his lack of speed makes him utterly untimeable . You see him starting to throw a punch, you step back and duck, raise your hands, circle the ring a few times, do a couple feints, and only then as you think your are safe and step back in to attack does the punch reach your chen

This should be brilliant if it comes off. Both are obviously really nice lads and it’s almost a shame. Sorry everyone but i think Joyce rallies to stop Dubois late after a corking battle. Gorman was too soft for Dubois but Joyce will old man him.

I have no evidence whatsoever for this but I can see Dubois doing a chicken dance at some point.
Joyce could well be the one to do it to him. He's fought better fighters and DDD hasn't been tested at all, so I can't jump the train until he gets through an actual test, Joyce is that, albeit a slow motion one.

DDD KO for me .

Both fighters are heavy handed and not the fastest movers so I see a slug fest .

In all seriousness Joyce has mixed in with the best in the world, both sparring, World Series and amatuer, so he's no mug but he is comically slow. He will ask a lot of questions of Dubois but I doubt he wins, mostly because of his comical slowness...

Big fan of both men as boxers and as personalities in interviews.

Can't help but think this is a bit of a man versus boy contest. There is more pressure on Joe as he has to win. But even so. I reckon Joe will prevail with a late stoppage.

Great fight
Hope the EBU is on the line. Brit, CW, euro & the minor ABC belts will make for a great haul...

Winner should call out Chisora.

I remember when Joyce turned pro, Haye was talking about throwing him in a 10 rounder against a guy with a decent record on his debut cos of his age to get him a title fight quickly. 2 years later he looks miles off. Jennings and Stiverene are pretty good wins under 10 fights if you're 25 but at 34, he ain't learning much

He needs to take the Dubois fight and find out his level quickly. If he can, he can then mix it with the likes of Chisora, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz, Povetkin, Hunter. If he loses, at least he knows his level... if he can't beat Dubois he won't get close to AJ , Wilder etc.

His lack of defence is likely to be his undoing the first time he faces a decent aggressive puncher.

I would never be surprised if Wilder knocked him out with his first clean punch in the opening round.
