Big Fights for Smith, Saunders & Eubank this year?

Post by Autobarn »

Which one’s going to hit the jackpot and get a Canelo Alvarez fight?

Or, could Smith wind up with Daniel Jacobs and Saunders with Demetrius Andrade?

Will any of the guys in the thread title fight each other?

If any of them get Canelo it'll be Smith after his gift against Ryder although i'd prefer to see a Ryder rematch. I want to see Eubank v Liam Williams this year.

Massive waste of talent last year , Smith should rematch Ryder , would probably sell well after the first fight.

Problem is outside of Alvarez and GGG, there isn't massive names in the middle / super middle weight division.

Eubank stands a chance of getting either of the big names, as he'd bring some pre fight entertainment, but is quite beatable, so good pay day less risk.

Saunders is the opposite, doesn't bring much to the table apart from being a really hard fight for anyone, I couldn't see GGG in his current form going anywhere near him.

Agree with all of that. With proper preparation if back Saunders heavily now to beat Golovkin, who is clearly past his best although certainly far from shot. The problem, as has always been the case for him, is that he brings very little to the table, almost nothing without a title.

Canelo would beat all of them with ease.

Ggg is on the slide. My prediction would be 3rd fight with canelo ggg. Saunders v smith. And dont really care about eubank!

I think Liam Williams does Eubank and I’d be interested in seeing it. I’ve zero interest in seeing Eubank against Canelo, GGG, Smith or Saunders as I think they’d all piss all over him

Id absolutely pick Eubank to Decapitate Saunders who is severely overrated.

Saunders should have about 4 of 5 losses already tbf.

Jr beat him the 1st time imo but annihilates him the 2nd time. Think Jr has improved and Saunders has stayed at the same sloppy level

Smith is made to order for Jr, Jr eats the high guard for breakfast lunch and tea

Canelo and GGG also batter Smith and Saunders
So do Benavidez, Plant, Jacobs, Andrade and Charlo.

Smith and Saunders are the front runners for Canelo, according to Eric Gomez, GBP president.

Junior done nothing in the 1st 6 rounds last time v BJS - he was 6-0 down on the cards - how was he ever going to win on points.

The same JR who got leathered by Groves - that Smith broke down and stopped 4 months later,

Even 4 mins v Korobov he was getting boxed silly.

Folk see those videos of him training and punching the bag 200 times in a minute but that means nothing in ring at top level - he fancies himself like his old man but he’s level short of the top and not taking any proper coaching only nightlights he’s a bell end. Adam Booth wasn’t long in getting shot and he was offered the BJS rematch umpteen times and even got sued by FW was monies for signing and not going through with fight.

Who’s most likely to get a deal to fight Canelo, Smith or Saunders - and how slim are the chances of it being in England?

I think Saunders - no chance England for Cinco De Mayo.

Doesn’t Saunders bring less reward or recognition - as Smith was winner of the Super 6, holds the Ali Trophy & the Ring mag title?

Also doesn’t Saunders pose an ugly stylist challenge, being a slick southpaw?

And also, given the problems Smith had versus Ryder, won’t Canelo seize on this perceived weakness?

I thoroughly enjoyed Smith v Ryder. Ryder did what any undersized challenger should do. His attitude, preparation & strategy were sound. It was a good, tough 12 rounder that could’ve gone either way, which I always hope for when I go to the fights.

So it’s looking like Canelo v Saunders.

Hoping, if it happens, we see a brilliant Saunders, with Canelo falling behind and trying to create late drama by attempting knockdowns or knockout to secure victory. Like, a Toney v Nunn type of fight.

Would’ve preferred a more offensive minded Canelo v Smith.

Let’s be accurate here, more often than not in recent years BJS has been far from slick.

Saunders will get the shot first. That's why he moved over to Hearn.

I miss the Eubanks, they've been really quiet lately. I want a big fight for Chris this year. A proper mega fight.

They’re discussing a potential May fight.. looking quite likely.

Hopefully it motivates BJS enough.

I suppose one good thing is Saunders is quite young for a Canelo opponent.

I hope it gets made. I think BJS is our best chance against Canelo, although I'd put him as a large underdog.

I did prefer to see Canelo vs a more offensive minded opponent, in Smith.

But Saunders could pose problems, for sure.

But can he be effective for the full 12 rounds?

Don’t normally enjoy the Canelo fights bs trickier foes, Trout, Lara, Jacobs. More like fencing matches and it’s seldom that anything conclusive happens. Hoping that, at this weight, the fight settles down and becomes more flat footed with good exchanges.
