Gotta love boxing, we're all getting excited about the prospect of a unification with Ramirez and it turns out he's defending against the BoxRec #95!

Ramirez has to get the Postol mandatory out of the way first though on February 1st so Taylor was always going to be making his first defence against a lesser opponent before the potential undisputed bout at 140. Taylor and Ramirez both with TR now so pretty hopeful we will see that fight later this year (or Taylor/Postol 2 if Viktor beats Ramirez).

I'm not so sure Taylor's management will want the fight in Scotland.
If they want to build him for the unification, which will most likely be in America, it makes sense to have this as a showcase over there.

Josh vs A Nun, good stuff

Just a showcase mandatory really, he deserves it after his WBSS run. Him and Ramirez can deal with their mandos then hopefully bash each other around :yay:

How does someone ranked so low get a title shot?

Never underestimate the importance of those regional baubles, We lol at them but they get guys rankings. The sanctioning body rankings are filled with random guys like this who have regional titles.

It's more that a title shot after being plucked from obscurity, this guy is Taylor's mandatory.

Jees, this guy is ultra lucky to be in a mandatory position. I don't think there is a single world class opponent on his record....or one close to world class.

His best win by far is over fringe contender Akihiro Kondo

Just watched that video; that guy isn’t on josh level ; his footwork and technical ability looked novice like , can’t see this one lasting long

Well if it is they'll be zero interest in it .

To be fair he deserves a routine defence after the opposition he's faced of late , but this is not a good enough opponent .

Agree.
He does have good height and reach. Main problem I can see is that everything he does is at about 4/5ths the speed of Josh.
This could be the swansong for Khongsong

Odd choice. Thais aren’t any good above 118 or stretching it 122 pounds.

First fight without the McGuigans and what an 'effing joke  No one deserves a routine defence more than Taylor but this is joke.

This is nothing more than an international 8 rounder....and unlikely to go 8.

Wasn’t a choice - he’s mandatory as much as it’s hard to believe.

Bit like the Jap that Dubois boxed was no13 in World with WBO when he looked like he’d just come from Local Restaurant.

What an absolute joke. Taylor could have a more difficult fight with somebody in his local gym. I agree he needs a routine fight before Ramirez/Postol but this is ridiculous. A complete money earner nothing more.
If the McGuigans had arranged this it would have caused an outrage.

As a boxing fan, I find this kind of thing incredibly frustrating. Why do organisations put folk who in reality would barely make the top 100 into the top 10-15. It must be soul destroying for those guys who deserve a genuine shot. At least the Dubois fight wasn't for any meaningful title, unlike this Taylor fight.

He's mandatory so not much choice. IBF's rankings are pish poor.

I've watched what I can on Khongsong.
On the positive side, he does have a nice jab (albiet slow on the return to guard) and there 'seems' to be power in his hooks to the body and head.
I can't judge if his power is game changing, might be enough to get Josh's attention.
Let's see if Josh ( with his new team) brings anything new into this fight. It is the perfect opportunity to try new things.
