Usyk in a fairly one sided fight, Parker might have his moments but usyk is just a class above. Be around 117-111 imo

A motivated and busy Parker might be just the antidote to Usyk. He has size; strength and fast hands. If he can avoid taking minutes off during rounds he would be a good bet to beat Usyk.

Agree. It is a more open fight then we think, also Parker is a Top guy. Something that Usyk haven't fought yet at heavy.

Joe is a pretty basic fighter aside from having fast hands, I think he'd be outboxed clearly. Can't say his strength has really stood out either?

Oleksandr Usyk is clearly capable of out-boxing the Kiwi en route to scoring a decision victory.

That being said, the Ukraine looked subpar during his most recent outing against the fleshy and small Chazz Witherspoon, an opponent that none of us considered world-class.

I still expect Usyk to raise his game, but it may take him four or five rounds to gain the winning momentum, since I expect Parker to achieve a certain amount of success during the early stages of the bout.

I’m looking forward to this bout, if it indeed materialises, because I think it’ll be a competitive affair and I doubt any of us can completely dismiss the possibility of Parker defying the betting odds to score the upset, since Usyk is unproven against world-rated 240llbs+ heavyweights.

I keep seeing people say that Usyk was subpar vs Witherspoon, how so though? He toyed with him and barely got touched. It was like a faster, more one-sided Loma vs Russell. Witherspoon got hit easily but must have landed like under 10 percent of his punches.

Was a very easy win where Usyk controlled it completely. Showed vastly superior skills and speed. Obviously a limited opponent but I don't see what was below the norm about it.

I don’t think anybody claimed that Usyk didn’t enjoy a relatively night against Witherspoon, but it did take the Ukraine a few rounds to get going. The media pretty much stated the same thing.

Also, Chazz was a past-his-prime fleshy fighter that almost certainly isn’t world-class.

I feel that other heavyweights would have disposed of Witherspoon quicker and in more dominant fashion than Usyk did.

For sure, Oleksandr had been inactive for a year and it was only his first soiree in the heavyweight division, so I feel it’s entirely reasonable for us to give him the benefit of the doubt for his relatively subpar performance during his heavyweight debut.

I’m not a cheerleader that is compelled to defend Usyk’s honour at all cost. I prefer to be honest and lavish praise on Usyk when he’s earned it and also criticise him when he deserves it.

That's just Usyk though, he 'heats up', don't really see any of that as a sign of being subpar myself and he utterly and easily toyed with a guy who could hardly touch him. I will agree Chazz sucked as an opponent and you can't really praise it much as a win given that

I would expect Parker to win the first 3-4 rounds.
Then get out boxed.
I don't see Usyk stopping Parker.
Nor do I see Parker stopping Usyk.
So an all action fight I would like to see. :box:
Probably something like Usyk by a couple of rounds.

Parker’s team are trying to price themselves out or take advantage.

Saying they’re the A side and deserve a 70-30 in their favour.

A-side aganist Usyk? That makes sense if their sate in a championposition for Parker. Right now, he is just playing Usyk like the newcomer. And he is the nr.2 in WBO after Fury lost it for no given reason.

I do give Parker a small chance. But it is more 70-30 favor for Usyk in this terms. Parker will be outboxed and stand the bout till the end. If not Usyk picks him apart in a couple of rounds and that bastards starts throwing crazy angelshots, then Parker is screwd more or less. Never seen Parker really been beaten up before.

Edit - my grammer was so bad.

70-30 sounds about right. I am pretty confident in Usyk having the skill to beat Parker, but there is the question of dealing with a solid, genuine HW. Parker is basic but he does have some of the division's quickest hands and is a tough guy.

Judges will be in USyk side and help him win if goes distance.

But if usyk don't run, parker will knock him out

Parker for me as he is a natural HW

Big solid punches

Usyk looked awful in his HW debut against a low level opponent .

I see Parker taking him into a 12 round decision or catching him with a sweet one late on
Usyk has always been hit but at CW got away with it .

Parker has the punchers chance but he always struggles with boxers and generally against everbody who doesnt have the most basic style. And generally boxers tend to nit steamroll their opponents if they are subpar. Even Ali had ok performances agaibst no name opponents because they didnt push him.

Usyk is by far the more skilled fighter of the two. Lets not forget he handled a couple of decent BIG Heavyweights in WBO World Ranked Junior FA and UK Prospect Joe JOYCE with ease in the WSB. So he's not completely unfamiliar with fighting BIG men.

Parker the natural Heavyweight is by no means without a chance. I think he'd have to get stuck into Usyk early assert himself and not let Usyk get comfortable or into any sort of Rhythm. He can't afford to 'Box' with Usyk.

It's a good fight in that I see it 70-30 in Usyk favor BUT Parker will make a go of it and will be a good watch to gauge where Usyk is exactly in the Heavyweight picture.

Commercially-speaking, Joseph Parker generates more revenue than Oleksandr Usyk. He is the financial A-side.

Also, the 70-30 split could simply be the starting point for Dave Higgins’ negotiations, where his purse demands for Parker are initially high and then he'd probably be willing to work downwards to finding middle-ground with Usyk’s handlers.

Of course, Usyk. Parker is relatively skilled and technical, but he's too restrained against top opposition. Usyk is levels above Parker. Faster, more mobile and busy. Parker will be bombed from different angles all night all.
