Nathan Decastro vs. Tommy Jacobs - 22 June 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

This coming Saturday, 22nd June 2019, reigning World Boxing Union (WBU) Super Middleweight World Champion Nathan Decastro steps into the ring to defend his coveted recently won crown for the first time, against fellow Brit and current World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International and European Champion Tommy Jacobs at the Prince’s Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea in the United Kingdom, which will be broadcast live on FITE.TV.

Decastro, who secured the WBU title back in April following the fourth round retirement of Ghana’s Daniel Adjei Sowah, is clearly elated that the first defence of the WBU Crown will be broadcast live on FITE TV.

“I’m over the moon that the fight will be shown live on FITE.TV.” said the 28 year old from Bardney, Lincolnshire.

“I’ve been looking forward to the fight, but even more so now. Finally I will be showcasing my skills to a much wider audience, which hopefully will lead to bigger and better fights for me in the future.

“By saying that I’m not looking past Jacobs, I know it’s going to be a tough fight, but he’s not been in with anyone as tough and relentless as me.

“I’m unbeaten in fifteen, more importantly I’ve stopped twelve of my opponents to date.

“Can’t wait, Saturday can’t come quick enough for me.”

Supporting the Decastro-Jacobs WBU-WBF Unification battle are two further Championship contests as well as further International non-championship bouts and all contests will be broadcast live on FITE.TV, the full fight card is:

When reigning World Boxing Union (WBU) Super Middleweight World Champion Nathan ‘Nightmare’ Decastro defends his coveted Crown against World Boxing Foundation (WBF) European and International Champion Tommy ‘Sweet T’ Jacobs, there will be a third World Championship on the line – The recently launched Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Super Middleweight Championship.

Shortly after Decastro-Jacobs was announced, the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) informed Jacobs that as their Super Middleweight title had been vacated and that as the mandatory challenger the WBF World Championship could also be competed for against Decastro and was duly added.

Around the same time the highly successful regional Championship organisation, the Professional Boxing Council (PBC) head honcho Russell Jaques announced the launch of their new World Championship and also approached the management of both Decastro and Jacobs.

Late last week an agreement was signed by all parties for the vacant PBC World Championship to also be competed for when Jacobs challenges Decastro at the Prince’s Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea on Saturday 22nd June 2019.

Supporting the Decastro-Jacobs WBU/WBF/PBC World title fight are two further Championship bouts.

The first sees Scotland’s Ben McGivern in battle once more against Hove, Sussex’s Navid Iran, for the vacant World Boxing Union (WBU) International Light Heavyweight Championship.

Last time the pair locked horns, back in November last year, McGivern lifted the vacant Professional Boxing Council (PBC) International Light Heavyweight title after eight sensational, close fought, all action rounds.

The second Championship fight pits St Albans’ Andy Hojdys against Latvia’s Dmitrijs Ovjannikovs for both the World Boxing League (WBL) International and European Boxing League (EBL) European Light Heavyweight titles.

In addition to the three Championship contests, there are also a number of International matches.

The first of these will be an eight round non-championship bout featuring Tanzania’s Amos Mwamakula against a yet to be named opponent, following a request from his previously contracted opponent World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Champion Neeraj Goyat that he be released from the contract in order to fight Amir Khan for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Pearl Championship in Saudi Arabia on the 12th July, which was agreed.

Ipswich’s unbeaten Super Middleweight prospect Rob Elden looks to keep a clean sheet and extend his tally of wins when he faces the highly experienced Nicaraguan hardpan Ronny McField in a six rounder.

Clacton-on-Sea’s undefeated Featherweight Ben ‘The Claxican’ Cook also seeks to increase his win tally, when he faces Pablo Narvaez, who also hails from Nicaragua, in a four rounder.

The final Pro bout features Dean Porter, who is eager to get back to winning ways, following his loss to Jack Jones last month.

Porter also faces a Nicaraguan, in this case former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth World Title challenger Michael Isaac Carreo in a four round non-championship contest.

Nathan Decastro versus Tommy Jacobs for the World Boxing Union (WBU), World Boxing Foundation (WBF) and the Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Super Middleweight Championships headlines the EBO promoted, British & Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA) sanctioned event at the Prince’s Theatre, Town Hall, Station Road,, Clacton-on-Sea CO15 1SE on Saturday 22nd June 2019.

And the sanc fees lol.

You reckon the headliners are gonna back £20k??

Who in their right mind apart from family members and/or friends will buy it on FITE??

Even then, you’d expect them to buy a ticket.

I wish I'd bought it now!
I was at my comedy club tonight but someone was live streaming it from ringside on my facebook so I was half watching it.
It seemed like they were both standing waaaaaay out of punching range most of the time but Tommy Jacobs seemed much faster and more nimble on the occasions that a punch was thrown.
It looked like Nathan DeCastro was knocked/pushed out of the ring late on and then a brawl started in the crowd and the broadcast stopped so dunno what went on after that.
Bit of fun though.

From what I understand members of the crowd tried throwing sly shots at decastro when he was pushed over the top rope.. chaos obviously ensued and it ended up being called off in the 7th.
I was watching the stream and having seen Nathan box several times and knowing what he brings to the table it was frustrating to see Tommy just running and throwing the odd potshot.. and was likely going to end up with decision if things continued in that vein unless Nathan was to catch him.

While it's a crap way for a fight to end and the baubles on offer don't add any great value it's worth noting they are both highly respected boxers with accomplished international amateur careers etc, who for various reasons have had to go down the biba route rather than the more traditional avenues.

I was only half watching but it seemed to me that Nathan Decastro was quite cumbersome and one paced and just followed the other guy around the ring. I read a couple of comments saying that the rope broke causing the fall?

Well.... the option for an online way to buy and watch a small hall show that would otherwise never be televised is absolutely fine IMO. The fact is that it just doesn’t work as very few people will buy, VIP etc have tried it in the past.

this is fromthe horses mouth De castros take on the events that happened.

This will be the last time I speak about Saturday night on here.
Obviously Tommy is chatting shit all over but the bottom line is, the ring rope clean snapped from beneath me and that shouldn’t of happened by no means, the show was ran like a circus, security was terrible, the ring wasn’t cordoned off to keep the crowd a safe distance away and off the ring like it’s supposed to be, There was people literally on the ring apron right near the corners, They were like wild animals hurling abuse which for some reason was even racial and this isn’t the first show this has happened (ask Matar). Tommy is now saying I jumped out the ring for an easy way out as I wanted to quit 🤣 Ive never quit in my life and would never do that and everyone knows that. The rope snapped and I got bundled out the ring by him. If the ring hadn’t snapped causing me to fall out of it backwards the fight would of continued believe me, he’s got no one to blame but him self for the disappointing outcome of the fight as it was his show and his organising and his organising of the ring, I was also struck by someone when I fell out and got a cut on my head from it. The doctor said the leg injury was bad and I couldn’t continue which IMO was irrelevant because we couldn’t continue any way because the ring was broke and I’m sure OIC would of highlighted this. That all aside I signed the contract for a purse for this fight and now he’s saying it was a ticket deal (I never received a ticket and didn’t sign anything along those lines) the people who came to watch me bought standard tickets on the door so basically they are trying to con me out of my rightful wages which is very low.
The final point I would like to make is Im not stupid I was losing the fight and was boxing poorly but he was tiring badly and I was as fresh as the first round there was still 5 rounds to go and I was getting to him with the inside body shots (when I could get my arms free as he was holding me constantly) so the stoppage would of come. This whole show didn’t sit right with me and certainly was not a good show to be streamed around the world and our fight was a stinker. Lastly this is unfinished business I want to sort this out back in the ring as a no contest isn’t how anyone wanted it to finish so a rematch needs sorting but I certainly won’t be going the Clacton again. I want my wages sorting if this can’t be sorted professionally and I get what I was supposed to I will be going through solicitors. I’ve heard he’s been saying he was at a financial loss with the show (and that’s without even paying me), which in my mind shows he was out of his depths trying to put on a big show and cut corners with safety measures.
So just to confirm to everyone out there the fight ended a no contest and a rematch will be being organised.
