After such a confident win from Rosario, it's even more difficult to realize, that Hurd lost to Williams. Now probably it will be more interesting to see Hurd vs Rosario and then possibly Hurd vs Williams 2.

Well it didn't take long for the first big upset of the year, hadn't seen Rosario before but never thought Williams would lose this, his first defence, in his hometown etc, I thought it was a formality, especially after a positive 1st round, didn't take long to get the right hand off, he steadied Rosario with it a few times in the opener but Rosario had a great 2nd, he began to get his own right hand off and defo hurt Williams at the end of the round, stopped him in his tracks

I thought Williams edged the next couple rounds on account of the jab/right hands but the warnig signs were def there, Rosario looked dangerous when landing and looked like he hit hard, still it was a surprise to see him get Williams out of there in the 5th, wobbled hi and never let him recover, he showed real class and accuracy to finish Williams off, even after he bundled him to the canvas, Williams took an eternity to get up and you knew there was too much time left in the round to survive, Rosario again showing great accuracy to force the stoppage, the finishing uppercut was top drawer, another twist in the Super Welterweight division

I think the best fight to be made in the division is Charlo/Lara but I assume PBC is more likely to make Charlo/Rosario now.

Does anyone remember the betting odds for Rosario vs Gallimore? Pretty sure Rosario was a sizable favorite.

It’s pretty mind boggling to see Williams chin fold
up against Rosario and Jermall yet hold up comfortably against HURD of all people who just keeps pounding you with hammers. Doesn’t make much sense. How does Rosario hit harder than Hurd?

He doesn't have to hit harder, though charlo does. A bigger aspect of taking shots is mental than most people give credit for. It's really a pretty fine line between being willing to go through hell or not.

Boxing is weird like that sometimes. I wonder how Amir Khan went a full 12 with Marcos Maidana.

Do you think J Rock can make the necessary adjustments and defeat Rosario in an immediate rematch?

The 154lbs weight class appears to be vastly underrated, a bit like the light heavyweight and cruiserweight divisions, where it’s stacked full of huge, athletic skilful, talented, but anonymous names.

And this is a shame, because big names won’t consider facing these guys, as they’ll be deemed as being high-risk low-return opponents.

I think that the 154lbs weight division will be one of those that won’t be dominated by any particular fighter within the next few years, because it’s such a competitive weight class.

So for the time being, the top dogs in the division will inevitably accumulate losses, they’ll be a few rubber-matches and a handful of upsets here-and-there.

And hopefully, hard-core boxing aficionados will continue to appreciate the best 154lb-ers, even if they do occasionally suffer losses, because that’s an obvious consequence of competing in a weight class full of deadly sharks.

Hurd is more of a volume puncher who wears his opponents down with his size and strength. He never go the opportunity to do that against Williams. Both Charlo and Rosaria more likely have more one shot accurate power than Hurd does.

You can take some punches you expect, but you can be hurt by punches you did not see.

Nice win for Rosario. I'd like to see him in a unification bout with Charlo.
