I'd definitely have tarver in there. Not sure about Hopkins, tarver for sure over hill.

Hopkins' legacy makes it one of Roy's best wins, but B-Hop had still not come into his own when he fought Roy. He was good, but he wasn't as good as he became.

Unfortunately they never fought when both were in top fighting form. Bernard was green the 1st time, and Roy was shot the 2nd time.

I guess, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, John Ruiz, Virgil Hill and Montell Griffin should definitely be in this top-5. Tarver win was good majorly on paper, cause it was arguable. No other wins are really close to this top-5. It's possible to place these names in different orders judging with different points of view, but Toney win should be #1 for sure.

I'd place them this way:

1. Toney
2. Hopkins
3. Ruiz
4. Griffin II
5. Hill

That was one of maybe 3 major fights I successfully predicted a 1st Rd ko. Tyson/spinks and Williams/quintana are the other two I can recall.

I wouldn't include Hopkins. I had that fight close (2pts I think) and B-Hop hadn't really beaten any names at that point.

Out of curiosity why am I the only one that rates his gutsiest performance against his greatest rival?

McCallum? I’ve actually never seen it for some reason, I’m assuming folks think McCallum was past it by then

I don't think the Tarver win (I scored it a draw) was one of his best performances. He had several easy wins against over matched opponents where he performed better than he did against Tarver. Those fights are hard to rate.

If you judge it by how well he performed considering the stage of his career, then it would have to be up there.

Going by how difficult it would be to beat the opponent at the time of the fight, I guess I would have it something like this:

1. Toney
2. Ruiz
3. Griffin
4. Hopkins
5. Tarver

I said gutsiest, I think his best performance was Reggie Johnson, but most of these best wins will be answered by me in regard to toughing something out. Especially since tarver was better than any of the other names with the possible exception of money and obviously Hopkins.
