If anyone here knows of any additional fights from the CBS Sports Spectacular from 1976-1977
that had Jerry Quarry as the ringside analyst ,please list them here.
I have posted about 15 fights he was ringside analyst at over on the Jerry Quarry televised fights thread.

John Conteh vs Chris Finnegan 1+2

Conteh outpoints Finnegan over 15 rounds to retain his European Light Heavyweight title and add Finnegan's British and Commonwealth belts, good fight, Finnegan gave his all and fought until the last bell but he was always second best to the younger fresher Conteh, Finnegan let his hands go but always seemed to fall short, Conteh on the other hand looked sharp and accurate, drilled the right hand through the southpaw guard of Finnegan and worked well with the uppercut when he was up close , mostly Conteh kept things simple on the outside and took full control in the second half of the fight, he stunned Finnegan a couple times and by the end Finnegan was looking worse for wear, he bravely made the end tried to finish strong but it was a well deserved win for Conteh

Conteh stops Finnegan in the 6th round of the rematch on cuts to retain his British, Commonwealth and European Light Heavyweight titles, shame to see it end like that as Finnegan had a lot more success this time around, he was able to get his jab off, bring the left hand over and fight with Conteh on even terms, Conteh was landing as well and it was closely fought, in the 5th there was an accidental clash of heads which cut Finnegan's scalp then his eye ended up a mess as well by the 6th , both men sensed the end was near and had a tear up until the ref stepped in to stop the fight due to Finnegan's bloody face

brilliant technical performance by Conteh, given his relative inexperience at the time, Finnegan was a good operator and like you say was always a step behind Conteh.

Yeh he looked quality did Conteh, it was the ref who scored it and I'm sure he had it tight

"classic" has many meanings to many people. I always loved Duran Vs Lampkin. Great action and sudden ending. Also one of Duran's best quotes. "Today I sent him to the hospital. Next time I’ll put him in the morgue."

Dokes is one of those random kinda historically non-descript guys I like, that hand speed is just great to watch, especially when he blazes them in combos

Obviously a huge win for Duran against a legendary fighter. Did he put him in the morgue in the rematch?

The comment from Duran that you find funny I didn't. It showed a complete lack of class by Duran. He was fighting an opponent who didn't have anywhere near his ability. The guy gave him a much tougher fight than expected. Instead of giving the other guy credit for a good effort, he says something like that. Not only that, he never gave the guy a rematch after saying what he would do to him if they fought again.

To me, this is just yet another example of what a total a$$hole Duran was.

Well excuse me. Still one of my favorite fights to watch. Sorry you take fighters comments so personally.

That was a great performance by Michael, though that last knockdown was a bit fishy looking.

John Conteh vs Yaqui Lopez

Conteh beats Lopez by UD to retain his World Light Heavyweight title, hard fought win for Conteh who worked hard and boxed well against the tough capable Lopez, Conteh foght the whole fight pretty much one handed, I think he'd had problems with the right hand going in and boxed superbly here off the jab and some quality looking lead left hooks. the first few rounds were a jab off between both men with Conteh shading things with his accuracy but in the middle rounds Lopez began to sit down on his shots and started to land the big right hand and trouble Conteh

Conteh's workrate dipped and he relied on nice eye catching punches and Lopez was the busier aggressor , it was nip/tuck down the home straight with Conteh's quality being enough to win

Matthew Saad Muhammad vs John Conteh 1+2(highlights)

Muhammad beats Conteh by UD to retain his World Light Heavyweight title, scored 2 knockdowns in the 14th round to seal the deal, surprised the whole fight isn't available, it was a very close fight by all accounts and a few people had Conteh winning despite the 2 KDs apparently, both guys looked a mess by the end and looked as if they'd put everything into it, Muhammad put Conteh down in the 14th from a left hook then a jolting jab, Conteh dragged himself up but his legs had gone, Muhammad had him down again after a combination, it was that jolting left again that looked the damaging punch, Conteh was saved by the bell and bravely fought it out in the 15th despite being fcked and lasted the distance, the decision was later changed to a No Contest after it was found Muhammad's corner had used adrenaline in the corner was against the rules

Muhammad stops Conteh in 4 rounds of the rematch to retain his title, again I'm surprised the whole fights not on youtube either, Conteh down 5 times in the round, decked from a Muhammad right hand early in the round, Muhammad kept cool and drilled him with hard accurate punches, another right had Conteh down heavy again but again he bravely got up but was down instantly from another cuffing right then again from another, when a right/left put Conteh down for the 5th time and Conteh got up for a 5th time the ref had finally seen enough, brave stuff from Conteh but Muhammad was excellent in that 4th round, the right hands did the damage but some of his lefts to the body looked sickening

I believe it was some illegal adrenaline with green tea leaves, I read it on Boxrecs review of the fight mate

from memory Conteh's jab and footwork are excellent in the first 6-8 rounds and he really shows his class but MSM gradually gets closer and closer and wears him down. makes me wonder how he'd (Conteh) have been with better hands (he boxed MSM virtually left-handed) and maybe better conditioning too.
