I'm backing DD for a ko as well. Think it'll be a good fight while it lasts.smiling assassin wrote: ↑28 Jan 2020, 09:02Joyce get hit a lot and Dubois' power seems to be very good. Can only see it going badly for joyce

Yes he's looked good against low level opposition. Will he still look good against world level opponents? We have no idea yet. I hope so though.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - TBA
You can tell who’s good by using the eye test regardless of their opposition. He’ll look just as good against Joyce, who is open, and slow as a sandpaper car rolling along freshly tarred Velcro.
The question is more, will Dubois tire or wilt if it turns out Joyce can march through his shots and put him under pressure, than anything around Dubois’s offensive capabilities.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 18 April 2020
I have to say as much as I like Dubois it’s kind of irritating how people have anointed him the future of the heavyweight division so quickly while Joyce is constantly written off as crap. Dubois looks great smashing overmatched nobodies and has hardly any amateur career. Joyce for all his faults has been in with pretty much everybody and had only been fighting a couple of years when he took on Usyk, who was a gold medalist, in the WSB. Jennings, even if it was a close fight, pisses all over Nathan Gorman as a win. My money’s on Slow Joe for a late stoppage.
Love this fight, though.

This always happens.. As soon as he gets chinned, he'll get shat on. Or eventually, the more he gets annointed, it's gonna get boring and people are gonna start getting bored.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑28 Jan 2020, 11:57 I have to say as much as I like Dubois it’s kind of irritating how people have anointed him the future of the heavyweight division so quickly while Joyce is constantly written off as crap. Fights aren’t won on paper. Dubois wouldn’t have struggled with Jennings.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑28 Jan 2020, 11:57 I have to say as much as I like Dubois it’s kind of irritating how people have anointed him the future of the heavyweight division so quickly while Joyce is constantly written off as crap. Joyce between 9 and 12. I think he's got a better engine than Dub

You're right: they're not won on paper. They do, however, appear to be won in your imagination.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑28 Jan 2020, 13:24Fights aren’t won on paper. Joe Joyce agrees Battle of Britain fight with Daniel Dubois at the O2 Arena in April after receiving a considerably higher offer than European title shot against Filip Hrgovic
Joyce had been ordered to fight the highly-rated Filip Hrgovic for the European heavyweight belt, but Sportsmail has been told the decision to go down the Dubois route was taken as the money on the table to face his British rival was considerably higher.
Sportsmail has also been told that Dubois will be getting a marginally bigger split of the purse and that the commonwealth title may be on the line.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 18 April 2020
Is it me or is heavyweight shaping up to be the most exciting’/intriguing we’ve seen it this century?
Top three still have a few years left and still need to resolve a lot, then you’ve got very promising guys coming through like Ajagba, Dubois, makhmudov, solid contender types like kownacki, hrgovic and Joyce, question marks in Yoka, and majidov, what can Usyk do, Whyte and Parker still in the contender mix.
Potentially could be a great few years !

It really could be a battle royale at the O2
Also proves the British title is alive and well.
If Dubois doesn't bomb Joyce out in the first 3/4 rounds, or do sufficient damage in those rounds so Joe can't recover, I see the Juggernaut running right over DDD. Either way neither guy is going to just hand over the win so the fans should be in for a treat.

Problem is Joyce gets hit far too much he was rocked against Jennings and never really recovered. if dubois hits him the same then he could be in trouble

Yeah it looks like there could be some good fights to come. i think it's down to the quality of the heavyweights being poor. Joshua, Wilder and Fury are not great heavyweights and have all got their flaws. The fringe fighters are mostly average and then you have a few up and comers who look they could be good. If Usyk can make the transition I'd like to see him become the man, I just think he's to small for today's big menRiddick Blowe wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 07:25 Is it me or is heavyweight shaping up to be the most exciting’/intriguing we’ve seen it this century?

Great news! Must say I'm pretty shocked it's been made. I thought that they would be kept apart for now. Maybe Joyce is struggling to get any meaningful fights and this will earn him a decent payday, because there isn't much upside for him unless he can destroy Dubois.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 18 April 2020
It's a good fight because its split opinion down the middle, its a 50/50 dust up
As a fan we cant ask for more than that.
It's not PPV standard so it needs a very good undercard. I'm not in UK so am lucky enough not to have to pay for PPVs but nevertheless, its a big ask for the casual fan.
PPVs should be for big world title fights. This a big domestic dust up with world top 10 doors being opened for the winner.
