This ppv is becoming a joke and you have british/european level fighters believing they are ppv level. Im not buying any other sky ppv till Joshua vs Wilder or Fury

Remember the sh1t he came out with at the press conference for the Taylor fight. He was fighting big Pricey and believing his own hype that people were there to see him

Yeah he thought he should've been top of the bill over a unification fightShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 08:37Remember the sh1t he came out with at the press conference for the Taylor fight. He was fighting big Pricey and believing his own hype that people were there to see him![]()
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
I like this fight
For me it's Usyk all day long, but Chisora could make a fight of it and should ask all the questions of Oleksandr that Witherspoon was incapable of asking.
PPV, however, is a nonsense and any self respecting boxing fan won't pay it
If and when Usyk comes through Chisora it makes the AJ fight far more appealing IMO.
BTW Usyk breezed the Witherspoon fight. To say he struggled is grossly misleading to anyone who hasn't seen the fight.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
Good test for Usyk, looks good vs Chisora and one could really make a good case vs the three above. Chisora is that useful gatekeeper.
I think what will be "bad" for the division is if Usyk wins a tight "thriller" and we know how Sky can really see fights with rose tinted glasses. If Chisora wins then hopefully it will set up a Unification, if Usyk wins it will set up a Unification - what we don't want is a repeat of Chisora vs Whyte with the WBO bauble being rematched and yet another PPV. Hopefully this will end the championship chances of one of these two.
What I also don't want is something like Usyk vs Bellew and somehow Sky angling it so Bellew (Chisora) was winning the fight before being KO'd - we could then still see Usyk vs Chisora 2 as a PPV. Usyk toyed with Bellew from the begining.

If anyone is gonna win rounds it's gonna be Usyk.
I know Chisora works every round when he wants. Like against Takam he took punishment. Agisnt Whyte, he threw as much as he could. I do feel he'd go into an Usyk fight full of confidence due to a size advantage.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
Hopefully a good heavyweight battle and a worthy learning experience for Usyk.
Also hopefully Usyk’s body will remain sturdy and this will not be the beginning of the type of injuries that David Haye would suffer. Guys who move up, including James Toney as well, always end up having something wrong with them at the higher weight. Also hopefully this is not the beginning of bloated mediocrity ala Tomasz Adamek (not fast enough any more, and never strong or powerful enough) my favourite non-Holyfield cruiserweight.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
Adamek was a tad unfortunate in the titles were in the main filled by two guys who were all wrong for him. He was the wrong side of 30 and a small cruiserweight - but I still think there was a time when he was probably the #3 best heavyweight.Autobarn wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 12:10 Hopefully a good heavyweight battle and a worthy learning experience for Usyk.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
The problem for Adamek as a hw was that he really did nothing at all particularly well. So he was undersized, and then did not have some standout speed or boxing skill etc to balance that out and exploit the bigger better guys. He was one of Vitali's most dominant showings
Usyk on the other hand, while being naturally larger than Adamek I think, is also a better skilled boxer and quicker, with an excellent engine. I think he can do better than Adamek did. Though I also think Fury, Josh, and the Wild One are better than the Klits, as much Klit lickers will disagree

Looking back, the win over Arreola was very good but he seemed shopworn after that as he took a few big shots.stujones wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 14:35Adamek was a tad unfortunate in the titles were in the main filled by two guys who were all wrong for him. Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
i felt that Adamek, at cruiser, was good at everything. Not a defensive wizard, but tough enough to rally (see the epic first Cuningham fight) and savvy enough to clinch, regroup and retaliate at the right time (see him after taking a massive shot from Jon Banks). Not the biggest puncher ever at the weight but big enough to at least drop every top cruiser he faced. I liked his ring generalship and his timing, which overcame his lack of amazing speed and power. Wonderful fighter and a waste of his prime.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 14:37 The problem for Adamek as a hw was that he really did nothing at all particularly well. He was too big for light heavyweight (but the wins over Briggs are some of the best light heavy action I’ve seen) and too small for heavyweight. A true shame he chased the paydays, lost control of his career and took some beatings.
I really regret the global financial crisis because after that nobody invested in Adamek fights. He went from defending his world titles vs Cunningham and Banks, to Bobby Gunn on PPV and then above 200-pounds...
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
I’m not as critical of how boxing is run in the U.K. I’ve beenenjoying Fights the last few years far more than the days of mid/late ‘00s Warren monopoly.
Yet, looking at Usyk, this is not how to develop a heavyweight. Activity and different styles. Do it the Evander Holyfield way.
My concern with Usyk as a heavy is that he throws clusters of peppering shots, which his bigger opponents may laugh off. He will have to do some serious positioning, in to land, out to evade, constantly adjusting, every fight, and I think it’ll use up huge amounts of energy.

I think Usyk is exceptional.
The fight with Chisora is both logical & good one to make.
Naturally I think Usyk wins comfortably with a late stoppage or comfortable on points.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
Definitely, a great fighter already. Just wish he kept busy vs the usual contenders, fringe guys, ex champs, like Evander Holyfield did. Develop steadily. Even Holyfield needed a learning curve, and appeared stunned tasting heavyweight power, the first few times. Alex Stewart and Adilson Rodriguez were hitting with everything, including the kitchen sink. And he had to get used to it. I know Usyk is more technical, and a southpaw to boot. I just don't want to see him have to overcome too many new problems, all at once. Because it will be hard for him versus the "super sized" heavyweights, whether it be Joshua, Fury or Wilder. Usyk is great, a fast learner, but current boxing's way of rewarded people with sudden title shots and elite fighters only campaigning once or twice a year, is very bad for a fighter like Usyk.

Without accusing anybody of anything, it is worth noting that an outcome of PED use is tendon injuries due to the added stresses caused by stronger muscles than the tendons are able to cope with.Autobarn wrote: ↑29 Jan 2020, 12:10 Hopefully a good heavyweight battle and a worthy learning experience for Usyk.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 28 March 2020
Physically and technically, Usyk could make the transition to heavyweight as well as Holyfield, Moorer, Haye etc.
At 6"4 or 6"5 and well proportioned he appears to have the fitness and speed to cope with the big boys. After a steady induction against Witherspoon, Chisora is a good second step.

More like 6'3"/6'3.5" I'd say. We'll know a lot more about Usyk at HW after facing Chis. Don't think he'll have enough power to keep the top guys off him.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑30 Jan 2020, 10:00 Physically and technically, Usyk could make the transition to heavyweight as well as Holyfield, Moorer, Haye etc.

Does he carry concussive power that'll he'll need at heavyweight ?
Whilst technically he is superb I don't know if he does .

Wilder, Fury and especially Joshua have all shown that their chins are not that great. Usyk might actually have a better chin than each one of them. I think Usyk has a good chance of a stoppage against all 3.
The best heavyweight out there is Usyk.
