Re: Jarrell Miller to sign with Top Rank?
It would have been much more interesting for him to argue the point with himself. Or maybe he meant to agree with one of his aliases.

Hearn: I Just Couldn't Sign Jarrell Miller After Stone-Cold Cheating
“I wish him all the best,” said Hearn, managing director for Matchroom Boxing, Joshua’s promoter. “He was desperate to sign with us. I just couldn’t do it, couldn’t do it. It didn’t feel right. I know I can be hypocritical at times, but this guy failed three drug tests, for three different supplements – or not even supplements. He injected in his ass. You know, stone-cold cheating. And there was no ban. But it’s over. It’s done. I wish him all the best. You know, I would always shake his hand and smile at him. But I felt like he let me down and he let boxing down, and he tried to cheat in a fight against Anthony Joshua, who is my friend and client.
“And I couldn’t do it. I could not do it. As much as there’s some great fighters out there for him – the Joshua fight, the Dillian Whyte fight – it didn’t sit right to basically encourage this. And that’s what they’ve done by giving him a new contract, a big contract, coming off the back of failed tests for three substances. But line on the sand, I wish ‘Big Baby’ Miller all the best. Respect to him, God bless, good night. We’ll see you soon.”

They've at least failed for 2 fights each. Ort failed prior to working with Edster too and Miller too (though in kickboxing)
The HW division is full of notable names who got caught but did fine after, aligned with various different promoters. Very few people really care that they used in reality

I don't care if a guy comes into the ring roided to the gills personally.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Feb 2020, 15:10 They've at least failed for 2 fights each. Ort failed prior to working with Edster too and Miller too (though in kickboxing)

I'd rather see a fight go on with everybody on steroids than a fight cancelled.
Re: Jarrell Miller has signed with Top Rank
I just find it ironic considering Hearn's current stable and fighters he's worked with before. He should just STFU.gilgamesh wrote: ↑03 Feb 2020, 16:17I don't care if a guy comes into the ring roided to the gills personally.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Feb 2020, 15:10 They've at least failed for 2 fights each. Bob Arum banishes Jarrell Miller from Top Rank permanently for ‘stupidity’
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has vowed to banish Jarrell Miller from Top Rank permanently after another failed drug test was revealed this year.
It comes on the back of the ‘Big Baby’ seeing a second fight in two years scrapped due to an adverse finding in his sample.
Miller tested positive for GW1516, one of three banned substances the American had in his system in 2019.
Despite seeing a world title challenge with Anthony Joshua fall apart, Top Rank decided to take the plunge and sign Miller.
Arum now admits that was a mistake due to Miller popping dirty again,
“How stupid can you be? That was my reaction,” Arum told talkSPORT Fight Night.
“I mean when we signed the fight after he had tested positive before the fight with Anthony Joshua, he told me it was his people that did it. And he (told me he) would be very careful, he would have a special nutritionist.
“And boom, the same thing happened and he tested dirty.
“I think, again, that’s a credit to boxing. Because once we scheduled him to fight, the Nevada Commission immediately had VADA test him.
“The first test uncovered performance-enhancing drugs. It’s very, very hard to deal with stupidity.
“And if you’re asking me if I’d continue my contract with him, the answer is, ‘Not in your life.’
“Jarrell Miller will never fight on a Top Rank card.”

Re: Jarrell Miller has signed with Top Rank
I can’t help thinking that we haven’t seen the last of Jarrell Miller.
I’m sure that in a few years, one of the world champions will inevitably perform a voluntary defence against him.
If the promoters and networks feel they can earn good money staging one of his fights, then they’ll do so, regardless of his track record for consuming banned substances.
He’s charismatic and seems very capable of selling fights, whereas many “better” clean fighters are nowhere near as good as ‘Big Baby’ at marketing their events.
After all, boxing is a business, boxers are known as “PRIZE” fighters (not “PRIDE” fighters), and many mainstream casuals have short memories.

A fight against one of the top dogs may gather mainstream attention... equals money.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Jul 2020, 08:39 I can’t help thinking that we haven’t seen the last of Jarrell Miller.

Re: Jarrell Miller has signed with Top Rank
Im guessing top rank will sue him to get back any money it paid him. In a year he went from being on the cusp of a multi million dollar payday title fight to most likely bankrupt

Unless he got a signing bonus, they probably wouldn’t have paid him anything. Who knows though. They should have put clauses in his contract.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 11:44 Im guessing top rank will sue him to get back any money it paid him.
