Re: William warburton
Great servant to the sport, seen him box Willie Limond on a show here years ago
Re: William warburton
I think Warburton has a few genuine prospects and champs on his record.
If you look at the centurions of old, esp Buckley and Matthews, their records were littered with champions, often 8 rounders too.
Nowadays a lot of the boys totting up numbers are fighting 4x2's against ex white collar debutants every week.
Tyrone Nurse x2
John Wayne Hibbert
Glenn Foot
Willie Limond x2
David Barnes
Sam Eggerton
Beat Jason Welborn too. I think they are the domestic champs he fought.
Also Fred Evans the Olympian

Re: William warburton
I'm guessing most of those draws should of gone his way as well
Re: William warburton
Amazing achievement.
Warburton was always capable of springing an upset when the mood took him and often gave the punters good value. Hope he made a good few quid out of the game.

I can't believe it!
I reckon that I was at ringside for about 40 of Willie's fights and he always gave a good show. In all that time I only saw him get hammered once, against Trigger Woods in September 2019. Iy did pass my mind at that time that it might have been time to go.
I was speaking to him again last Thursday night and he gave no indication it would be his last fight, and after his performance I thought that maybe he would have a final year going out with a few wins.
Lovely, lovely man and so is his trainer. I wish him all the best.

Re: William warburton
Warburton's record is deceiving. He actually had some skills and usually gave a good account of himself despite having the deck stacked against him more often than not.
I wish him all the best.

Re: William warburton
all those draws on his record
most of them 'just happen to be' unbeaten fighters on home turf.....
Re: William warburton
He could certainly rise again

Re: William warburton
yeah he was far better than his record suggested. If he turned up and fancied it he was a real handful. I saw him fight a few times. Fought my mate and lost every round but he was just going through the motions to be fair to him.
Re: William warburton
Warburton held back a lot of the times, a lot of journeymen win their last fight as they got nothing to lose. I thought Warburton was nearer to 40. he could easily have another 100 fights.
