Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Is it possible that for fighters records there was an easy way to see the combined total for their opposition?
I'd find that useful when considering their record compared with another
Thanks

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
But I do really appreciate including the link to the specific fight card in the Watch list!!

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Has anyone got any idea why I can't send PMs? Tried to PM an old friend and it just sticks in the outbox and then followed the FAQ and tried to message the site admin and that's stuck in the outbox too?
It's like Private Messaging constipation.
I'm at 10% in terms of 'fullness' by the way so really don't need to go as it were.

The ability to unsubscribe from an entire forum like Mythical Fights. So it doesn't show up anywhere that I go.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I suggest that for amateur records, RSC/RSCH are counted as knockouts in the fighters' records. Those are basically just terms used in the ams to refer to stoppages.
So a guy who is 1-0 with that win by RSCH should be counted as 1-0 (1)
Some may say that because amateur fights are stopped so much faster than pro ones, it may be misleading to consider RSC as knockouts. I can understand that, but RSCH specifically refers to guys getting knocked out by head shots pretty much as they would in the pros, so it at least should be counted.

Did anyway say Boxrec should have an app yet? Their views would double overnight.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I want to add my vote in favor of the adjustable inactivity period, if indeed that is a feasible suggestion. This seems especially useful during this particular time, since a lot of fighters who had fights scheduled or otherwise in the works for this spring are going to go inactive at least largely through no fault of their own because of cancellations. I'd be willing to bet top fighters will go a year without a fight at least 25% or so more often this year than they have in the past. I also would add to this suggestion by suggesting that even if the user can't make the period adjustable, there ought to be a toggle that would allow the inclusion of fighters who have a scheduled fight at the one-year mark. I've often found it frustrating being unable to easily find out where a fighter would be ranked going into his fight later in a given day because he had gone inactive for a year as of earlier that week or the day before, for example.
But the #1 thing on my wishlist is being able to look into the past. Again, I don't know how feasible it is, but I would LOVE to be able to see where the rankings would have stood on a particular day in the past, both from the rankings pages themselves and from the fighter pages.
Another wishlist item would be to add a "no spoilers" mode of some kind. I'm watching a ton of boxing again during the lockdowns, but having worked 80 hours per week for 5 years now, I'm very very far behind overall, and would like to be able to dig deep into a fighter's record as of a certain date, without accidentally seeing his results for fights I still plan to watch later. I'm sure that's mostly just me, but it would still be really cool to have as an option, especially if it's not terribly difficult to implement.
A "what-if" mode would be cool too, wherein the system can display how a fighter's points and/or ranking would change if he had, say, won a UD instead of losing an SD, and so on. As someone who absolutely refuses to accept robbery decisions as the real results of fights, it would make the mess created by bad officiating much easier to untangle.
I'm hoping one or two of these might not be impossible. Cheers!

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I would love to see the possibility to search on DOB. Now we, as editors, insert to easily a "new human" but who already exists. Searching on DOB would be a help. Adding to this, I would not add a new human without his DOB. Sometimes difficult, I know...
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
You can do that, just put the DOB into the search box top left, ie 1970-02-03
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
what I meant is in combination with one of the 2 existing. For example: "Dani%" "Van%" "1956-11-10"

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I just spent some time looking around the Ring's website. It looks like they're building their archive, but I didn't see ratings from past issues.
They're offering digital subscriptions for $1.99 a month and saying that it will get you access to archives of back issues. Maybe you have to have a digital subscription to get access? Ruthless RKO, is that how you're accessing them on the website?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
What is the deal with being forced to constantly log in??? This site is getting absolutely ridiculous. I can be logged in, looking at records, click on a new record, and be forced to log in again! It was bad enough when I couldnt just peruse the site without logging in. Then it was worse when I was automatically logged out if I logged in via my phone (which I was forced to do if I was mobile) but now being logged out automatically constantly? I dont get it. Im not sure I understand the logic behind it but ultimately I think its going to be counterproductive. I know I'll be using the site a lot less.

This is happening to me a lot as well, it happens frequently but also very inconsistently, doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it.klompton wrote: ↑19 May 2020, 15:40 What is the deal with being forced to constantly log in???
