In perhaps the biggest "who cares" bout of the year...
Former heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam's foe is set for his 10-rounder on Star Boxing promoter Joe DeGuardia's Feb. 28 card at the Paramount in Huntington, N.Y. Takam (37-5-1, 28 KOs), 39, of France, will face Fabio Maldonado (26-3, 25 KOs), 39, of Brazil, DeGuardia told ESPN on Wednesday. Takam was initially headed to a fight with Jarrell Miller on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury 2 PPV undercard Feb. 22, but because Miller's long-pending co-promotional deal with Top Rank took so long to be finalized, Miller won't fight on that show so DeGuardia added Takam to Feb. 28, which is headlined by junior welterweight Cletus Seldin vs. Humberto Martinez.

Takam is one of these guys who has been around too long that I've gotten bored of him, even if he'd been fighting Miller
Re: Takam vs Maldonado Feb 28th.
Possibly a little unfair to say you are bored of Takam, At least hes more often than not in good fights.
Shame the Miller fight couldn't get made but hopefully see Takam in another BIG fight soon. Parker was struggling to get an opponent and Takam missed out on Miller so a rematch between the 2 would have been interesting and a better fight but finances and different promoters would put pay to that

Looking at his age and activity, you'd think that Takam has one more top level fight left in him. A fight Vs someone like Miller would be a very good fight. Hopefully fights of Maldonado's level are not what's to be expected going forward.

Don't see how it's unfair at all, he's been recycled a bit and when was the last time he actually beat a notable opponent? He is a solid fighter and can test guys but he's one of those types who you just know isn't going to actually score a win at the high level
I would rather see him vs prospect types like Hrg or Efe, less experienced guys who are not established contenders

Re: Takam vs Maldonado Feb 28th.
Fabio Maldonado artificially fabricated a superficially impressive professional record of 26-0 (25 KO’s) by continually feasting on journeymen and novices.
He then got dominated by every half-decent opponent he’s ever faced (i.e. Rivas, Teslenko & Hunter). By the time he gets KO’d by Carlos Takam, it would have been seventeen months since his most recent victory.
In simple terms, Fabio Maldonado is the Brazilian version of Mark De Mori. His sole purpose is to allow big-name fighters regain or build credibility by beating a foe that casual mainstream observers will consider having an “impressive” resume.
It's a mismatch stay-busy bout for Takam.
