Brook has one of the most frustrating careers I can think of, looked like he was about to retire coz he couldn't get the big fights and he couldn't get up for another Zerafa, he's back now and back with Dom and does look in good nick TBF but what does this do? Another rust shedder like most of his career, he was as bad as ive seen him in the Zerafa fight, looked slow at 154 and too easy to hit

Never heard of DeLuca but he has a loss to Walter Wright who fought on Contender nearly 15 year ago, he avenged it in all fairness but he must be pony surely, if Brook looks ponderous again then maybe DeLuca can have a bit of success but I'm expecting a blow out if I'm honest

Think brooks gonna look awful. Even the vibes Dom ingle has given out are not entirely positive. Too many periods of inactivity.

Same who knows. He might do a Rabchenko job. I just hope DeLuca tries. Cuz that’s that Brook needs. To be put under pressure a little so we can actually see what he has left.

Zefara certainly made him look a fair bit more average than we’d seen for a long time. That result is probably now looking better in hindsight.

DeLuca: "Beating Brook would be like winning a world title for me"

Mark DeLuca says his clash with former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook in Sheffield on Saturday February 8th is “make or break” as he looks to cause an upset in the toughest fight of his career, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US. DeLuca (24-1, 13 KOs), a durable and hard-hitting southpaw hailing from Massachusetts, avenged his sole career loss to Walter Wright in an immediate rematch in October 2018, unanimously outpointing the Seattle man over ten rounds. "The Bazooka" added two more wins to his record in 2019, outclassing Jimmy Williams in Boston and then Brandon Brewer in Providence, Rhode Island and has been much more active than Brook in recent times, having fought 12 times since 2016.

“This is the pinnacle of my career at this point, fighting a former champion,” said DeLuca. “Kell Brook fought two of boxing’s biggest boogeymen at the time in Errol Spence and Gennadiy Golovkin, he shook up their world. I have admiration and respect for Kell as a champion but in order for me to get to where he has been, I have to beat him in Sheffield. I can’t speak for him, but I know he is at the crossroads in his career. I know he wants to get back to where he once was and in order to do that he needs to beat me. I don’t think that he has taken this fight lightly as it’s a make or break fight for both of us.”

Brook hasn’t fought since decisioning Australia’s Michael Zerafa back in December 2018 and is determined to prove that he still belongs at the top of the sport after teaming up with trainer Dominic Ingle once again. A loss for Brook would be disastrous at this stage of his career and DeLuca insists all of the pressure will be on the Sheffield fighter.

“I don’t really get into social media or read online comments, but I think he is feeling the pressure ahead of this one. All of his fans are waiting for him to come back and it’s in his hometown. He has to deal with this pressure and show up and perform, he has his hands full. This is my chance and this is my time. I feel great. I have been grinding on small cards in small venues to get to this point and I can showcase my skills and what I am all about in this fight. I am deceiving and people will look at me as a puncher but I can do cute things in there. Everything can change at any moment in a fight. This would be like winning a world Title for me. Although the belt isn’t on the line the man that I am fighting means everything. Fighting someone of his calibre means everything to me. I am confident in my preparation and that is what it all comes down to, fighting the best that I can, that’s all I can do.”

Was watching a few IFL videos the other day with the usual suspects and that long haired ring announcer all saying it's a good card etc.... IFL has became a Matchroom propaganda machine! Like North Korea state television

The drop from Hogg was the turning point mate and yes they should have won.

Wilder vs Fury 2
Dubois vs Joyce is a good match up....

What else is there that's been made to look forward to?

Not a lot so far mate. There's the MTK golden contract semi's in a couple weeks which should be good and Quigg v Carroll...

Ahh yeah Quigg/Carroll is a decent match up.

I mentioned, here or elsewhere, towards the end of last year that UK boxing in particular was on a downswing. That while there were a few UK fighters in bouts still to come there wasn't much on the horizon for the top Brits or the prospects we have. And I still don't see that's changed some months on.

Obviously Joshua has regained his belts and Fury/Wilder is the next BIG fight. DDD and Joyce are now matched, great. But outside the heavyweights....

Warrington has a potential clash with Stevenson but that could easily just not materialise.

Josh Taylor had a great 2018 and is now the number 1 in his division. Should be looking to fight Ramirez, but maybe will have 1 or two easier fights first.

Callum Smith seems to be thrown by the wayside and he was gifted that win against Ryder so his star could be fading. Might be holding out hope to win the Canelo lottery there.

Guys like Okolie, Catterall, Saunders, maybe even Eubank Jr to some extent. Does anyone even care about these guys? And I mean fans, not their promoters? :OhYes:

Khan and Brook on their last legs, along with Luke Campell and Frampton, Chisora as well maybe...

Anthony Yarde is fighting in a Spanish nightclub later against a guy 4-48-3. What's that about?
Buatsi looks decent but seems very inactive and another uncared for guy under Eddie's watch.

Maybe it's always kind of been that way but I don't know. In years gone by there had always been some interest for most top Biritsh boxers with potential fights to be made, or domestic fights but we seem void lately. Looking down the P4P UK fighters list, there's not much to be excited about outside the heavyweights and not much in terms of upcoming prospects.

And this is probably reflected on a world level too baring the 1 or 2 exciting divisions. :maybe:

There's loads of fights to be made, they're just not getting made lol. Hopefully it picks up. Taylor has a mandatory against some Thai dude next up then hopefully the Ramirez Postol winner. Has that been rescheduled yet?
