Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Boxing Scene:
Tyson Fury:
"No. I won't be fighting in the UK anymore. Based on the fact I've got an American boxing licence and the fact I've got an American TV contract," Fury told Gareth Davies.
"So the last three fights of my contract will be in the United States for sure. I'd fight anybody. This is the home of the Gypsy King now, Las Vegas. And I don't want to fight anywhere else, like [Floyd] Mayweather."
Ingrate.

Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Can't see him fighting the likes of AJ or Whyte in the States. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder chins him and he chucks it.
Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Me neither. All Brit fights in the US would make squat compared with in the UK. I'm surprised to see such 'dissing' of UK fight fans. Eddie's Saudi expedition and now Fury saying this. I don't get it. Not like we don't get it in the states with 79.99 PPV's that suck balls.
Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Boxing was booming here for a long time but it all feels a bit empty now tbh. The top fighters will go wherever the money is.oogiebe wrote: ↑09 Feb 2020, 21:09Me neither. Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Exactly my point. The UK fans were largely responsible for the resurrection of the HW's with AJ coming onto the scene and filling stadiums. Where's the thanks? It's no wonder boxing is losing steam here in America.Stuarty wrote: ↑09 Feb 2020, 21:19Boxing was booming here for a long time but it all feels a bit empty now tbh. Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
It's seems rather obvious that he'd stay in Las Vegas, unpopular opinion it may be but it's the best place for him to make money. Wilder-Fury I was $75 (Roughly £60) in the US vs. £20 (roughly $25) in the UK.
It did roughly 325,000 sales in US & 450,000 in UK.
Quick Math: 325,000*$75 = $24,375,000 (Roughly £19,000,000)
450,000*£20 = £9,000.000 (Roughly $11,500,000)
So obviously it's more lucrative for him in PPV buys.
Then considering one of the most financially successful fights in UK boxing history AJ Vs Klitschko only brought in about an estimated £8m in total gate revenue, the PPV sales offset any potential ticket sales made by fighting in the UK. I can't really see Fury selling out Wembley or the Millenium Stadium either.
Ever since he signed with Top Rank/ESPN this was always on the cards, the potential to earn in the US is far too big a draw, unless you can sell out stadia (like Wlad or AJ) you'll never earn that kind of money. That's why AJ tried to debut in the US, that's also why he gave Saudi Arabia a go. The UK public just can't afford or don't want to afford to pay the same costs, AJ V Klitschko did roughly 1.5m buys in the UK, whereas FMJ did nearly half that many US PPV buys fighting Berto and did 2.5m US buys fighting ODLH before even mentioning the Pacquiao fight. After his WWE appearance and all the groundwork going into the rematch, I can't see the second Fury V Wilder fight doing less than 500,000 US views (which at the rumoured $75-$95 cost) offsetting any possible gain Fury could make returning to the UK.
It's unfortunate but we're doomed to stay up to 3/4am if we want to see the UK's best mixing it with the US' finest.

To be fair, if you placed yourself in Tyson Fury’s shoes, would you be willing to accept a pay cut in order to please a very small minority of niche fans? He has contractual obligations to fulfil.oogiebe wrote: ↑09 Feb 2020, 20:55 Boxing Scene:

Tyson Fury’s next bout against Deontay Wilder will be his eighth fight staged on foreign soil (having competed multiple times in places such as: Las Vegas, New York, Düsseldorf, Quebec City and Dublin).
His next bout will be the third time he’s challenged the champion in their own backyard.
There are many fighters that don’t reside or originate from America that regularly compete on US soil, which are seemingly immune from receiving criticism.
So why criticise Fury for doing things that other fighters are given free passes for doing?
Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
Hardly a controversial news story.
Has a three fight deal with Top Rank to fight in the USA.
Currently has no plans beyond that.
Therefore he can't really fight in the UK can he?

Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
I’d rather he meet Wilder twice in the US than not at all.

Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
What's this?
Tyson 'fork-tongue' Fury actually having a momentary lapse of his all too casual dishonesty?
Hardly surprising that Fury doesn't give a stuff for the fans is it, given all his bullshit pre-fight promises of what he's going to do when/if he steps into the ring, is it?
Or anything else for that matter that normally comes out of the mouth of this lineally lying prick.
He may have had Ricky Hatton in his corner holding his gumshield but Ricky Hatton this crook will never be.

He hasn't had a meaningful fight in the UK for 5 years anyway

Very true. But, he just should've shut up about it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Feb 2020, 16:38 He hasn't had a meaningful fight in the UK for 5 years anyway

Re: Fury: I won't be fighting in the UK anymore.
I remember when he signed for TR.
He said, he will have 3 fights per year..
2 fights in the US and one in the UK..
Yeh right..
Faie enought you dont need to take boxers seriously, but Fury? You gotta be an actual idiot to believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.

I'm no Fury fan & really dont like the guy at all, but you make a valid point. There are numerous global boxing stars who fight almost exclusively in the US these days and they dont get criticized for it: Loma, GGG, Canelo, Pacquiao, Kovalev, etc.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Feb 2020, 11:09To be fair, if you placed yourself in Tyson Fury’s shoes, would you be willing to accept a pay cut in order to please a very small minority of niche fans? We dont have to go back too far to find Fury's fellow Brits who did the same thing. Lennox Lewis fought 14 of his last 16 bouts in the US and only had 1 fight in the UK in his last 9 years as a pro. RIcky Hatton likewise had 6 of his last 8 fights in the US and Naz had 3 of his last 5 bouts here in the US as well.
And none of the above had the lure of the WWE or UFC that Fury may eventually pursue.

Didnt he say he wanted to fight Wilder at Old Trafford like literally two days ago?

Lennox wasn't adored by the UK like Fury was. I can't blame him for fighting predominantly in the US.Best Coast wrote: ↑11 Feb 2020, 19:35I'm no Fury fan & really dont like the guy at all, but you make a valid point. I think it's safe to say you can take anything anyone in the boxing industry says with a grain of salt. I wouldn't get all worked up about it.

and really is more of a quirky celeb / sports / gypsy oddity who can be relied upon by the media to create headlines which often are not at all related to Boxing .
