Former heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam will make a return to the ring on Feb. 28 in Huntington, New York, fighting on a Star Boxing card in a 10-round bout against an opponent to be named.Former heavyweight title challenger Carlos Takam will fight a foe to be named in a 10-rounder on Star Boxing promoter Joe DeGuardia's card Feb. 28 at the Paramount in Huntington, New York, DeGuardia told ESPN. The reason for his appearance on the club show is because, according to a source, Takam, who is co-promoted by Top Ranks, was lined up to face Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury 2 PPV undercard Feb. 22, but because Miller's long-pending deal with Top Rank has been delayed in getting finalized he won't fight on that card. So DeGuardia put Takam on Feb. 28 as they await a bigger fight.

Takam’s association with Top Rank puts him in the pool with Tyson Fury, Kubrat Pulev, soon Jarrell Miller (or at least so we think), former European champ Agit Kabayel, and Bryant Jennings. The company also have some top prospects in Jared Anderson, Sonny Conto, and Guido Vianello, and they’ve also shown a willingness to work with other promoters for heavyweight fights especially, including PBC and Matchroom, plus they have a good relationship with allegedly.
