Ranking the propsed heavyweight fights

I was listening to the Costello and Bunce podcast on my way home from work last night and, on the show, they posed an interesting question.

There are a number of touted heavyweight contests coming up, all of which are likely to be pay per view.

I know a lot on here will stream them all, but, for the sake of the conversation, which of these would you buy and what order would you prioritise getting them if you couldn't afford them all?

I've put Whyte in twice as both these fights have been muted. Obviously he isn't going to fight them both this spring.

In alphabetical order....

Chisora v Usyk (prime time)

Dubois v Joyce (prime time)

Fury v Wilder (middle of night, for WBC title)

Joshua v Pulev (prime time, for IBF, WBO, WBA titles)

Whyte v Ruiz (middle of the night)

Whyte v Povetkin (prime time)



If we can avoid the 'XXXX shouldn't be PPV' chat (I know, we all know...) and just rank the contests as fights and events we might avoid going over old ground!

Fury v Wilder is the only one I would even think about paying for.

I would have in order for wanting to see most to wanting to see least. (reason in brackets)

Wilder fury 2 (true 50-50)
dub vs joyce (curiosity, close fight, and i quite like them)
usyk vs chis (usyks skill vs a big boy at pros)
Whyte vs pov (nice style match up and close.)
AJ vs pulev. (Aj should win easy not keen on it but know it has to happen)
Whyte vs ruiz (wont happen soon and shouldent happen till both prove they can be fit)

This dosent take into acount undercards though. wilder furys will be trash. AJ vs pulevs will probably be fire. I like a big undercard so that could change the orders completly.

Wilder/ Fury is the only one I would even consider paying for, a lot of that is based on the first fight being far more exciting then expected. In the rematch Wilder will know he can hurt Tyson & I expect him to go looking for it a lot earlier.

Dubois/ Joyce An intriguing match-up that many seem split on, but are they seriously considering putting this on PPV? This is the sort of domestic fight that should be seen by as many people as possible to try & build up the winner. Hiding it away behind a paywall seems incredibly shortsighted.

Uysk/ Chisora is a good test of how Usyk will fare at Heavyweight, of course a lot will depend on how motivated Derrick is.

AJ/ Pulev Just so the casuals can sing "Sweet Caroline" afterwards & Eddie can claim that AJ is still the best.

Whyte/ Ruiz or Povetkin, just feel like Whyte is constantly unmotivated & never taking that next step & so I've lost a lot of interest in him. Neither fight really intrigues me., plus I'm still disgusted about how that failed test got hushed up.

I'm with you on the undercard. If I pay for a PPV I like to sit down at 6pm and get three or four fights I really want to watch, have a few beers and a takeaway.

Fury v Wilder is the best fight buy paying £20 to watch one fight at 4am vs £20 to watch a set of fights on a Saturday night is a trade off when ranking the events.

Sadly we haven't had a really good undercard for PPV in ages.

I quite enjoyed Wilder Fury but agree about Ruiz. He was a fat disgrace in the AJ rematch.

It was definitely dramatic, but I think dubois/Joyce will bring drama with action instead of tension waiting for action.
