take the 5m today........all day long

short term loss for long term gain, beat canello and then you hold the big bargaining chips. if you dont think you can beat him then accept the offer anyway.

i have a feeling Hearn is thinking of matchrooms bank account more than his fighters. if the fights now dont happen...it is Hearns fault. Canello is the main player.
Such is the problem with getting fights made in boxing. To many cooks spoil the broth. To many parties trying to milk the game.

Hearn can’t really lose whoever is picked as he’ll get % of the purse and not be putting up anything so he’s going to try best deal for both his fighters.

He knows what Jacobs got - so if they offered good bit less why would he accept it ?

Of course you want the Max possible and they want at least the 12 but then on the other hand where are they going to find another fight to pay them 5 or even 1!

Danny Jacobs got $7m - can’t blame them for saying we deserve similar - both undefeated champions and belt holders.

Of course that but I'd prefer to fight Canelo for 2, even 1 than fight Smith or Saunders for 300k

Its all ifs, buts, and maybes. The truth is nobody outside of a very few people know what is actually going on. All we want is to see the fights get made and not get strung along in the process. Boxing is really starting to turn me off, i feel like, as a fan, i've been round this same circle too many times i'm absolutely tired of it.

The sport is fecked, poison running through its veins. It will take some sort of miracle cure to fix all of its problems. My bet is we will be on here in 30 years, same sh*t, different faces, that will the only difference.

I don't know how it all works, would Hearn speak to the boxer with the offer, or would he turn it down without consulting with the boxer.

Its a good question. Given the way he openly talks on the subject, i would have to think he consulted both Saunders and Smith, and got their approval to reject the offer.

I'm expecting one of them to get it, but still, i wont be at all surprised if the fight goes to someone else, and Smith v Saunders does not happen either, and on and on goes the saga. Thats generally how it is in our sport. Chasing a Canelo fight helps keep both of their profiles high, it keeps them relevant. We see this scenario time and time again.

Hearn would be duty bound to refer it to the fighters’ s manager. 100%.

Be great if both of them held out for more and Ryder got the shot put up a great performance and got paid well , then both Saunders and Smith lost just after and never got the chance ,
5 mil is quite a substantial amount of money to most people.

I hear you man. Again, it just goes to show what a sad state if affairs our sport is in when us fans are wishing for this type of scenario. If it happens, be sure that nobody will learn any lessons from it, far from it. The wheel will just keep on turning, same sh*t different day.

Fair points. On the other hand, we've seen Canelo opponents make way way more by not accepting the first offer. Kov went from like 5m to 12m or something. Obviouslyy he as the fighter benefits hugely there too, not just the promoter.

Kov went from 5 mil to 12 mil because Canelo himself was desperate for the fight. He had his eye on the prize, he wanted to jump up two weight divisions and KO a feared champion. It was a history making fight that he himself saught out. Its seldom Canelo chases a fight in that way. I think thats why Kovalev got the bumber payday, Canelo told Oskar to go and get it done at any cost.

I dont think Canelo has won a belt at super middle yet, so with both Saunders and Smith holding titles at the weight, it certainly raises their status in the Canelo sweepstakes, but they would be foolish to get overly carried away. Hearn is shrewd, so hopefully he knows what he is doing here. Personally, my feeling is if they get a half decent offer for Canelo they should just grab it. If they win there is lots of glory and they will be in very high demand after.

At 2.30s Oscar talks about offers made to Saunders and Smith. He said they have until today to accept, or he moves on, with 4 other names in the mix.

Oscar is under pressure to deliver though - Canelo’s said to be unhappy / DAZN want meaningful fight for their 25m and there’s not massive pool of talent out there for him to fight. He’s avoided GGG since last fight they had and I’m sure that’s why Dazn signed GGG with that in mind.

Canelo won Rocky Fieldings title - albeit not prestigious he was SMW champ. Hearn will know how it’s playing out - DAZN are heavily involved for both sides and want huge fight for that weekend as it draws enormous numbers.

Danny Jacobs got 7m usd....it’ll end up around that region and one of them will take it. Who accepts the 1st offer....

Jacobs received over 10 million dollars. 2.5 million was his official purse and the rest made up from his own deal with Dazn.

The offers to Saunders and Smith may not be as high as we think.

I thought that might be the case as Canelo was bigging him up
Wonder what weight it will be made at , don't know if Saunders is a bonafide super middle .

The scores were 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 all in favour of Smith, who retained his world titles ,

" and still " :OhYes:

however smith was shite that night and ryder fought well in a style that is awful for a tall boxer and he should avoid the rematch !
