Eww, Kenny "fondle fingers" Bayless
Ah well, we can always hope he gets accidentally clipped when he tries to grope Wilder.

Good site, this kind of scrutiny is sorely needed. Let's not forget these guys are supposed to be in the elite of boxing officialdom. Keep up the good work, both the boxers and the fans deserve it.
As a self-declared Wilder fan, who's hoping to see Fury KO'd this coming Sunday morning, I'm quite happy to admit that this is not looking good for those Tyson Fury fans who are expecting to see a clean fight.
No one, not even Tyson Fury, deserves to enter a boxing ring with the extra burden that the officials will be against him from the start.
This business is far too tough enough already without all that extra 'A side' / big money transfer crap we see time and time again.
We already know the cartel would like to see a third fight, but this ain't about what they want.
For us fans best the best outcome is, and always will be one in which 'the judges' influence is rarely needed.
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
No one going to mention that Bayless was VERY kean to not let Luis Ortiz get back to his corner in the rematch against Wilder in the last fight.
Fight on American soil, with all American officials. Can you imagine if this was the UK pulling this crap.
Oh and btw those are the same set of judges who gave Canelo the draw in the first GGG fight, and Canelo a win in the second.
So, who do you think has deeper pockets and more influence in Vegas: Hayman or Arum?
I guess the possible upside for Fury is those judges are known to favour the Vegas fighter...

A black judge singled out at the top of your list , with way more appearances than the others even though almost al judgesl are white. HMMMgilgamesh wrote: ↑19 Feb 2020, 16:41 All 3 are on the Watching the Watchers list.

Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
There probably isn't a single one of these established judges that hasn't turned in a few stinking cards. Must be about the easiest job in the world to keep with minimal effort.
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
The usual suspects.
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
.......and most of the people criticizing judges have never sat ringside watching a fight from the same view as an official judge.
They are watching on tv and expect the judges to see the same thing they see
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
Eh? These judges are stood up leaning on the apron, they ain't seated ringside.

Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
Plenty of fans and writers who sit in attendance at fights can easily call out sh!tty judigng, which of course is slanted far more to the a-side and not randomly distributed like you'd expect just if it were vision. the viewpoint stuff is only a very minor thing when it comes to explaining crap cards and you see the same faces appear again and again even when their work is indefensible , poor judging and very low accountability is not some figment of the imagination conjured up by nutty fans
That said, on the other hand we all occassionally have poor days at the office, even if we are good at our job. No one you could put into a judging role would ever deliver good cards every time. I'm pretty sure Weisfeld at least has generally been a good judge for example, he certainly hasn't been on my sh!t list, but ya, he too has turned in a not very good card before (Briggs-Foreman), I certainly wouldn't say he's some sh!tty judge just because of that though
The problem is with the repeat offenders and the ones turning in stuff that is just totally unfathomable. As mentioned abovee there is very little accountability too, a lot of places are run totally buddy buddy

Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
Three American judges (a couple of them have previously submitted controversial scorecards) and an American referee (that has track record for stopping bouts prematurely) officiating a bout where the champion is American competing on his home turf of America.
So the choice of officials by the NSAC is rather surprising given the huge controversy surrounding the first bout.
Sadly it might be a case of “all or nothing” for Fury, because he will probably need to stop Wilder and also avoid getting hurt in the process, in order to avoid defeat.
I don’t fancy Tyson’s chances if he gets gets mildly buzzed at some point or the fight goes to the scorecards.
The odds are stacked against Fury! And I’m surprised his team haven’t lodged a complaint with the NSAC about the officials for his bout with Wilder.

Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
As long as the boxers are both fine with the judges and ref, I am too. Fury said he is glad there isn't a judge from the UK. Settle it in the ring. I hope it is a KO one way or another, to leave no doubt.....even though it seems they have a trilogy planned regardless of the outcome.
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
Purely coincidental. In most cases I don't know or remember the race of the judges. I just see a name on the screen.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑19 Feb 2020, 18:50A black judge singled out at the top of your list , with way more appearances than the others even though almost al judgesl are white. Link doesnt work but here's the text of it.
LAS VEGAS – If the Nevada State Athletic Commission assigns an all-American panel of judges Wednesday to score the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury rematch, that’s fine by Fury.
The lineal heavyweight champion reminded reporters Tuesday at MGM Grand that British judge Phil Edwards scored their first fight even, 113-113. Fury feels he won that 12-rounder rather easily in December 2018, but only Canada’s Phil Tapper scored England’s Fury the winner, 114-112.
American Alejandro Rochin scored their fight 115-111 for Wilder, who floored Fury twice, once apiece in the ninth and 12th rounds.
“Whichever judges get selected, that’s it,” Fury said. “I’m fine with that. No British judges, fantastic. It was the British judge that went against me last time, hence why I’ve not got a British judge this time. So yeah, I’m gonna be fantastically happy with the judges and referee. They all do a fantastic job. The [Nevada] State Commission will pick experienced guy
The NSAC typically picks American judges for high-profile fights in Las Vegas. Only Americans judged Fury’s past two fights, each of which was held in Las Vegas.
Re: Officials Named for Fury/Wilder.
Fury talkin shit. Doesn't even relay the proper turn of events.
Roll them eyes! They should watch it on TV. How many times are they swayed by crowd noise? Every time. That's asinine. Imagine hometown football team coming up short by half a yard but the ref gives it to em cos the crowd went wild? The standard in boxing is comically low.

"The standard in boxing is comically low."
That's a nice way to look at it.
Others might say it's comically corrupt.
It's not surprising that Fury doesn't care, why should he? He knows how boxing works and he knows if he can see his way to 24 more rounds with Wilder then all the better for his bank balance regardless of the judging.
He doesn't lack confidence and neither should he - it'll be up to Wilder to prove his decision foolish.
Make no mistake here, it's always the fans that get most screwed by poor judging in big profile fights, especially the ones that have bet on the outcome. How are they possibly supposed to factor in corrupt judges when placing their bets?
Sure, there are always genuine possible differences in the interpretation of scoring rules but it's those occasions when both the ringside and television audience are left totally puzzled by a particular scorecard that is of concern here.
If certain experienced judges continue to have wild discrepancies over individual rounds then that kind of blatant inconsistency (which renders judging an almost random process) needs immediate investigation AND acting on, not mere lip service hoping the fans will forget.
If a judge is not sure who won a particular round they can score it 10 - 10 (regardless of whatever noise the crowd are making), yet they hardly ever seem to.
Judging in boxing needs consistency round by round or it might just be fairer to settle it on a toss of the coin. Best of three if you like.
A non Las Vegas minted coin of course.

Arum was saying that they declined the option for British judges. I do not understand why.
