I agree with all of that, other than Reyes giving Jones a hiding. Reyes has looked great thus far, he is dangerous for sure, but Jones is a special kind of talent, and i expect him to shine against the style of Reyes, i think it will bring out the best in him. I think he will bust up Reyes and stop him. Jones KO is my pick.

If you really fancy Reyes strongly, consider there are a lot of interesting betting options with enticing odds on offer. Could be worth a punt then.
He did not give Jones a hiding, but you certainly forecasted the fight better than me. Reyes was excellent, much better than i thought, Jones knows how to keep his composure but he was not comfortable in their at all. Those first 3 rounds were all Reyes. 3 to 2 for Reyes would have been a fair result. No way did Jones win that fight, and that 4 to 1 score!!!

Jones has looked far from invincable in his last two fights. Had Santos not done his knee in, he could have won that, and i want to see him get the rematch, as i do Reyes.
I didn't think Reyes would die in the 4th and fifth. He ran out of gas.. I thought he'd be prepared for 5 solid rounds in the biggest fight of his career. He won the first three on my card and lost the last two. If you watched Jones earlier in his career and compare those performances to his recent performances, he has really slowed down. He is slower and misses more and more, getting shot. I think its the steroids honestly. He's clean now and it shows.

To be fair to Reyes it was only his 12th pro fight and his first 5 rounder. He also has a big heavy set frame and an explosive style. Also, Jones was smart and kept the pressure on him throughout the fight. Reyes certainly gassed in the final 2 rounds but he will learn a lot from that experience. He showed great stregnth and endurance to be able to defend the takedown attempts, and to get straight back up from those that Jones did score. I was far more impressed with Reyes in this fight than i was Jones, and i believe most people feel similar? Reyes shoukd have got the nod. Now i hope he gets the rematch. It will be close again, and a great fight to get up for, but next time Reyes should get it. I woukd expect him to be a slight favourite with the bookies in an immediate rematch.

I have only been i to MMA for around 3 years. I have heard the stories about Jones and ped use but i dont know enough on it to comment, though it sounds like it could be a plausible theory if there is a noticible decline in his performances. He coukd also be battle worn, long career, many title fights, that has to take its toll on a man.

IMO Jones should stay away from heavyweight. IMO he has unfinished business at light heavy with Reyes and Santos, thise are the two fightsi would like to see him take next, but he wont beat Reyes in a rematch IMO

Reyes has a bright future for sure. Great take down defence agreed. I just expected him to be the one coming on strong in the last two but Jones really has exceptional championship heart and ring IQ. His experience and will to win are second to none at this stage but his output has really gone down and he plods too much. It's still going to take an exceptional performance to beat him. I can see Adesanya getting him at the right time and putting on a show.

He struggled with Santos and Reyes, their skills and power were reasons for Jones lower punch output.

I think he just scraped by Santos, he was lucky Santos knee went that night, and he already lost to Reyes in my book. So, IMO, he is only undefeated on paper.

Ok true, but you get my point, that i believe he has already been defeated inside the ring. What the judges scored and what the history book will show is not in line with what i watched.

Agreed. What I meant is that it's going to take a very clear victory for someone to get a decison over him. Any tight fight is going to Jones. In terms of wrestling, nobody can really beat him there and in terms of striking, it's going to take something exceptional like a bomb from Ngannou or a clinic from Adesanya. Jones would probably outclass those two though.

I felt that MMA seemed to go off the radar with the retirement of GSP and the two defeats that ended Anderson Silva as a top fighter.

McGregor seemed an unfinished fighter before he became a novelty act. Ideally he’d have finished learning his trade in UFC and become an active champion. But that didn’t happen.

I think it didn’t help that UFC bought out rival outfit Pride, which had some great fighters, and killed off the competition. Obviously Pride featured legends like Kazushi Sakuraba, Mirko Cro Cop & Fedor Emilianenko.

I used to be dead against MMA, being a staunch lifelong boxing fan, however it so refreshing to see these blokes just get in there and do it. No record padding, no worries about an 0 on your record.

And the fitness that most of them have puts many boxers to shame.

But for me, you can't beat the buzz of a big marquees fight... The sweet science...

I can though that boxing is starting to look old fashioned to younger fight fans, and I think changes definitely need to be made over the next few years if it is going to keep up

I used to be exactly the same, i hated MMA, could not stand watching one minute of it. Then McGregor came along making a huge buzz, and i started taking a look because of him, and slowly started watching it more. Once you learn to respect the skillset, and know the fighters, it really is a fantastic sport to follow, and its only going to get better.

I've learned i can get up for a big MMA fight almost as much as i would for a big boxing fight, so i am well and truely converted to MMA these days.

No fundemental changes will be made in boxing. Currently they try to improve the press conferences, weigh ins etc, make them more entertaining, but thats not even scratching the surface of boxings problems. The sport is fecked at its core. With no governing body to rule over the sport, Its a free for all, everyone involved trying to make as much crust for themselves as possible. From the ABC's to the promotors, managers to advisors, tv networks and the fighters themselves, even their trainers, everyone is out to cash in. The focus has well and truely shifted from glory to banknotes. These days one title fight for any version of an ABC is enough to define an entire career. IMO the sport needs a governing body. Less weight classes. One champion per division, etc etc. Will it happen...... dont hold your breath.

Hooker v Felder what a brutal main event that was. Thought Felder seemed a tad unlucky, he showed some terrific stamina and IQ right the way through the fight.

Hooker v Gaethje next? Nobody would want to miss that one. Although saying that surely Gaethje should be McGregor’s next opponent.

Felder deserved the nod for me. Tight fight though all the same. He's one tough bastard is Felder.

Gaethje is must watch tv no matter who he fights. He's got one gear and it's turbo. The chap is a division 1 all american wrestler - that's the highest level of wrestling there is. He refuses to wrestle in his fights and always initiates shootouts from the first bell.

I thought Felder won but I was cheering for him as well. Maybe I'll try watching it again without the bias.
But it broke on yesterday that Conor vs Gaethje is being planned for the summer. (As well as Cejudo vs Aldo at UFC 250).
I follow boxing and the UFC. :OhYes:
