I don't know that its muscle growth entirely, but it does point to the fact that he's probably not just talking when he says he intends to engage Wilder more, and attempt to knock him out.
It's probably a crazy idea.
His logic in thinking Wilder could be beaten this way is sound, I just don't know if HE'S the guy to beat him this way.
Muffling a puncher's big shots can work though. Ask Vince Phillips and Ricky Hatton how it worked out against Tszyu. Sometimes getting inside, and not giving them room to punch is the ticket more so than avoiding them which convential wisdom suggests you should do.
If Fury insists on trying to engage in a firefight I'm not sure if he'll be successful or not, but I'm certain of one thing. We'll have a far better fight than we had the first time.
So I sure hope he is 100% sincere in his intention to come right out and "knock out Wilder in the 2nd round"
Fury sincere? Kind of an oxymoron. Fury claims publicly about his masterbation to increase testosterone, eating pootang to strengthen his jaw muscles, knocked every sparring partner he had out cold, etc. He is a clown, and the extra weight will make him less mobile, and tire quicker if he is more active like he claims.
He'll have his trunks hiked up to his nipple line no doubt too to cover his extra flab. Fury will have his moments, but the only way I see him winning the fight is if he gets cut and it is stopped when it is legal he can win if ahead on the cards.
Agreed.
That old theory that 'skinny' legs Wilder is comparitvely weak and chinny has been going round for years. That and the possibility that Fury doesn't fancy risking a repeat of the near disastrous first fight seems to suggest that Fury might be willing to try out something new.
Even if he is, and I doubt it, as soon as Wilder lands anything on Fury it'll be back to hit weave, or miss and weave, or nothing but weave.
This might be boxing's biggest global fight since sight Pacquiao v Mayweather and unfortunately this will be just as big a stinker if Fury gets his way.
The question, yet to be answered, is exactly how will Wilder catch Fury?
After the Breazeale and Ortiz demolitions he's going to have a lot of eyes on him worldwide to see just how he's going to do it.
Hopefully Deontay Wilder will provide everyone of us with the answer tonight.
