I was completely 50/50 on predicting a winner tonight, the one thing I was certain of was that it would be a Wilder KO or a Fury points decision.
Glad to be wrong. That was an extremely smart fight from Fury, he absolutely mullered Wilder. Watching Wilder fight is always tense. Right up to the end was imagining a Jackson/Graham-esque Hail Mary doing Tyson in.

Massive respect to Wilder in there. In his post-fight interview, he was complaining that his corner didn't let him 'go out on his shield'. He had four rounds of blood pissing out of his ear, holding onto the top rope for balance and taking a thorough hiding. The corner did the right thing and to me at least, fighting on that far, with those injuries, is definitely going out on your shield. He is one tough, determined bastard.

It also didn't stop Brook and Khan from ducking each other. Some fighters are duckers regardless of the money. And AJ is one of them.

True, but there's nothing slick about Tyson Fury. His defence isn't slick and there's nothing sharp about his punches either.. Credit where it's due, he came out and held centre ring, which always gets plaudits in my book. With Wilder neutralised, this is what a bigger man does to someone 40lb lighter. He just ran him over. The clinches probably took more out him that his punches did.

I can't see him wanting anything of Fury after Fat Ruiz exposed him.

Fury really did find the winning recipe last time, and the irony's that he almost lost to get it. He went gung-ho (by his own standards) because he wanted to get close enough to clinch to the bell, and in doing so found that Wilder had no counter to his greater size on the backfoot.

But this time Wilder was staggering around with a wankhand in his pocket after five minutes, absolutely knackered. It was a bizarre performance for me, even after calling this a bad matchup for him. It soon fell into a rhythm of him pub-carparking away, threatening to throw with no conviction, and then not pulling the trigger because Fury wasn't offering himself up on a plate.

Fury gave him the yips and he looked about ten years older. He just needed to hold his feet a lot more and let Fury fall in, rather than keep resetting the range in Fury's favour. It was a good performance from Fury, but I find it hard to give him full credit for Wilder's no-show. Had the fight gone the same way but with Wilder throwing a bunch of missiles every round, then sure — I'd give him total credit.

I think Joshua will really struggle with Fury's size and reach, but equally, Fury hasn't fought anyone as good as AJ unless you count Wlad. Personally, I'd like to see AJ beat him and then Dubois beat AJ!

Fury's always been a bully when he's winning and I didn't care for his blood-licking. Nor the way he wasn't really jabbing but covering Wilder's face with his palm as he threw those rights to finish it.

An absolutely epic performance by fury!

We knew Wilder had questionable skills but to take it right to him like that puts you in the line of fire.

I can't see Wilder wanting an immediate rematch, or the public, the clamour will be for Joshua.
That said he has the contractual right for a rematch, so we'll see.
I'd think Wilder would want a long rest & recuperation, and maybe to come again against Joshua down the line.
He showed great heart, but to be battered in such a way must be devastating.

Fury is a man of his word! He went for the ko early. He was able to impose himself on Wilder & still be alert enough to slip away from the right hands. Wilder's extra weight didn't help him at all, whilst fury was able to use his weight to bully Wilder around.

You'd have to favour fury to be able to box around joshua and unify the belts. But Joshua's no mug at all, has power, strength & technique. That's the fight that has to happen.

How bad will this be on Wilders confidence?
The guy has been knocking guys out and proclaiming to be the baddest man on the planet.
His self belief, I think is a major part of him as a boxer.
He has lost his air of invincibility.
Could the first fight be the best we will ever see of him in actual top level fights?

I wouldn't be surprised if it were downhill from here for him, he will be 35 and just took a bad beating unlike before. He doesn't have great skill to fall back on once his athleticism slips. He can probably still KO almost all guys in the division though
