Fury - Wilder: The Trilogy?

Post by Twinkle Toes »

Do we want it, do we need it?

After the first fight, it was clear there needed to be a rematch, but personally I have no desire to see Wilder back in with Fury. It was such a thumping loss that I see no point to it.

Obviously there might be certain guaranteed contracted purses that make it attractive to both fighters, but for the sport I think we've seen enough of these two together. We need to move the heavyweight division along now. New challenges await both fighters.

Nah, let's see something fresh., AJ vs Fury!!

And suddenly I'm interested in Wilder vs someone like Kownacki, bouncing back at 35 after a beatdown can be tough, especially when lacking skills to fall back on

Yeah if it were up to me as his manager Kownacki is EXACTLY the guy I'd have in mind for his very next fight.

Pointless. Fury has done him.

We don’t need it really but Wilder maybe does. If he wins his careers back on track but if he loses in that fashion again it’s a long way back if there’s any way.

I don’t think the public need a third fight, but that won’t stop it happening. Obviously it’s all on Wilder and his team to enact the rematch clause. I’m sure Fury will be happy to take the $$ for the same result again. It comes down to Wilder wanting another beat down for big money in the bank or just hanging ‘em up...

Fury will win easier in the third fight. I think it’s likely the my will meet again. Sadly 🤣

I think they’ll do it again next up. However clearly Fury won last night Wilder’s power will always give him that punchers chance. More importantly though he’s a warrior and I just can’t see him walking away from a rematch, and 40% of a significant pay day that would considerably out strip any purse he could obtain elsewhere next up.

Other than AJ it’s probably the second most attractive fight the public would buy into for Fury. I’d love to see Usyk v Fury but I’m not sure it would have any great crossover appeal quite yet.

Wilders also 34 so how much of a rebuilding project is he really going to undertake? Maybe I’m wrong but I’d be surprised if Wilder doesn’t invoke the rematch clause.

And what if Wilder somehow wins a third? A 4th fight! Then a 5th and 6th . Maybe they will even marry at some point :oo

Not a bad call if he continues, but he’s earned a lot more money so may just stop

It seems that those predicting Wilder will go for the rematch is mainly due to the payday.

And I agree, other than a Joshua fight, there isn't a bigger payday.

But how big is this match now? Fury dominated the 1st one after 3 years on the piss.

2nd fight was a complete mismatch, it was difficult viewing at times. Don't particularly like Wilder but felt sorry for him in there, tough bloke but he was out of his league.

Do we need a 3rd? Anybody give a fcuk about a 3rd? Anyone gonna pay to watch a foregone conclusion? Is there really that much money in another? Especially given the first fight (a 50/50) struggled to sell

If I was gonna pay to watch wilder again (yeah right), I'd probably be more interested in watching a crossroads fight with someone like Whyte or Ruiz... then try and build the winner but at the moment Wilder vs The Gypsy King, nahhhh

The undercard sucked so badly last night that a rematch and subsequent undercard would not tempt me.
After Fury and Wilder suck all the money out of the event, there will be nothing left to put on a real PPV show, apart from the main event.
And last night the main event was entertaining, next time I fear it will be harder to watch and I won't be paying top $$ for the privilege.

It's a good comparison. I felt sorry for Jeff after. Everybody just kind of threw him under the bus. They should have pulled him out of that fight. Wilder might actually be able to come back from this, but a part of Lacy that went into that ring didn't walk out with him when that fight finished.

The first two fights were corkers but he lost both of them, the rematch so emphatically I would just retire if I were him. His team are a bunch of half-wits as well. There's a lot of money riding on this. They'll throw him back in.

Fury has beaten him twice in most people’s eyes. Battered him in the most recent fight and as someone said further up if Wilder fights on I can see him taking some more defeats. He regularly gets outboxed and without the undefeated instinct and the champions instinct he ain’t gonna be digg8ng as deep to pull the Ortiz style KOs out of his arse any more.

That and the worrying bleeding out his ear that may mean he ain’t fighting again full stop.

I don't know who they can match Wilder with if not Fury. It would probably have to be within the PBC, but both Martin and Kownacki are in position to get an IBF title shot.

Perhaps Miller might fancy the work, but Arum might want to keep him for other Top Rank fighters.

Without a belt, is Wilder a big enough pay day to offset the risk of fighting him? I don't see fighters like Whyte or Povetkin throwing him a bone. Hunter is over at PBC...
Maybe he'll be matched with Cunningham

i think wilders worth the risk for the money for lots of guys. weather those guys are worth the risk for wilder is a different story. Wilder has made silly cash last few years, is he going to go into camp, and risk loosing to a decent fighter no belt on the line? I actually really want to see him vs Parker or him vs usyk, but they are risky fights for him, for probably 1/10th he got this fight

$39.95 or about £19.
Yes I know it is fairly cheap compared to the USA and UK.
Weirdly they are charging the same amount for Parker Vs Whatshisface
