But this one sounds confident:
Re: Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders received offers for Canelo fight and rejected them!
Another RUMOR says De La Hoya and Al Haymon say it is David Lemiux, and another says NOTHING FINALIZED and Jeff Horn is a Strong possibility. MISMATCHES!

Lol who even puts nonsense like Horn vs Canelo out there? No chance
Re: Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders received offers for Canelo fight and rejected them!
AFTER that he Tweeted this
Sounds like this is an opinion, not a done deal yet.
Re: Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders received offers for Canelo fight and rejected them!
personally I would rather they fought each other in the UK or at a time that suited UK TV schedule rather than go to Mexico for Canelo.
Let Canelo come over to the UK

Al Haymon spoke to someone?
Re: Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders received offers for Canelo fight and rejected them!
When did Canelo's thing become to try to sucker guys into fighting him on relatively short notice?

The question is if Canelo wants to fight Lemieux or it is just DLH. With the severe cooldown between them, Canelo will just ignore DLH.

"Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight “About 95 percent There” Sources Say"
It seems Canelo Alvarez could fight Billy Joe Saunders on May 2 after all. As fans know, both Saunders, the reigning WBO super-middleweight champion, and Callum Smith, the current WBA ruler at 168 pounds, last week turned down offers to fight Canelo. But now, as per a tweet from Mike Coppinger, a Canelo-Saunders fight is “about 95 percent there,” with the two sides “determined to finalize a deal this week for a May 2 super-middleweight title fight on DAZN.”
So it seems either Golden Boy improved their offer or Eddie Hearn and Saunders agreed to the first offer they initially turned down. Either way this fight, one the unbeaten Saunders has been calling for for a long time, is closer than ever before. According to Coppinger’s sources, the sole hold-up on Canelo-Saunders being signed, is a “discrepancy with Saunders’ minimum in his contract.”
Let’s hope this can be sorted out. Canelo-Saunders is a very good match-up and of course southpaw Saunders fully believes he has the tools and the style to defeat the Mexican superstar. Can the British traveller score the big upset, and over Cinco de Mayo weekend to boot? Canelo will of course big a big favorite to win, and pick up yet another belt, but if Saunders, 29-0(14) comes in in top shape and is able to perform as sharply and as brilliantly as he did in scoring arguably his career best win over David Lemieux back in December of 2017, then we will have a fascinating fight.
It goes without saying how a Saunders victory would rank right up there with the great “away wins” scored by a British fighter. One thing we know about Saunders is he is totally unfazed when fighting away from home, in the other guy’s backyard. And Las Vegas is really a second home for Canelo. It will be quite the hostile crowd 30 year old Saunders will face if the fight does come off, but Canelo had better not rely on this unsettling Saunders and making his job of defeating him that much easier.
This fight might just end up being one of the hardest, trickiest and most testing of Canelo’s long career. Again, let’s hope it comes off.

"Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to decide whether he will fight Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith on Tuesday"
Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is set to decide whether he will fight Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith on Tuesday, says promoter Eddie Hearn.
The British world super-middleweight champions have both turned down initial offers for the 'Canelo' fight on May 2, with Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn urging the Mexican star's promotional team 'Golden Boy' to return with an improved deal.
But either Saunders or Smith could receive a massive clash with the four-weight champion this week.
"I believe there's meetings taking place on Tuesday to ultimately determine who is going to get the fight," Hearn told Sky Sports News.
"Billy Joe is coming out and saying: 'Hurry up, tell him he's got until Wednesday'. I said 'Billy, it don't work like that. Ultimately this is the golden ticket, this fight.
"Callum Smith is waiting patiently behind closed doors. They both want the fight. They both want a deal that's fair.
"You saw Oscar De La Hoya come out and say: 'These guys turning down these fights.'
"You can't offer a WBA and a 'Ring Magazine' champion half of what another world champion got to face him. We're negotiating. I'm very confident that one of those guys will get the Canelo fight and it will be done this week."
MTK Global, the influential management company who handle the career of Saunders, had suggested last week that the current WBO champion is closing in on Canelo.
"It's highly likely that the fight will be made," said MTK spokesman Jamie Conlan. "There are still some issues to be ironed out.
"Both fighters want it, both camps want it, everyone seems to be on the same side, we just have to hit the right number.
"They gave an initial deadline but the negotiations are at a point where there is no point backing out now.

I prefer Smith's Ring magazine and WBA titles, the more accomplished at the weight.

I prefer Smith for the freak show size difference element, I have also seen enough of Smith to know he performs best in his more significant fights and is prone to underperforming in lesser ones

That's a great point that I hadn't thought of. Smith may be the riskier of the options for being soooo tall. ![[icon_wink.gif] ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Saunders can beat Canelo but not the ref and the Vegas judges on the same night.

"Canelo Alvarez’s May 2 opponent will ‘SURPRISE’ everybody – Eric Gomez"
“An announcement is going to come shortly. I’d rather not say who it is at this time, but we’re very close to finalizing a deal,” said Eric Gomez (of Golden Boy Promotions) revealed to Fino Boxing on Canelo Alvarez’s next opponent. “There are some final details that need to be worked out, but it’s going to surprise everybody.
“The opponent is secure, and it’s one of the top fighters in boxing,” Gomez said on Alvarez’s next fight. “It’s actually a very good fight and a very dangerous fight for Saul. It’s a very dangerous fight, but that’s who he wanted, and we’re hoping to announce it very soon. Anytime now,” said Gomez when asked ‘when the announcement for Canelo’s next fight will take place.’
So if we’re going to be “surprised” about Canelo’s opponent, is it safe to assume the Mexican won’t be facing the likes of Smith, Saunders, Murata and Golovkin?
Could he possibly be facing someone like Artur Beterbiev or Jermall Charlo? Now that would be a “surprise”.

Here's a link to the cached version of the web page from the official website selling these tickets.
It could simply be a mistake or they may have inadvertently let the cat out of the bag prior to GBP’s official announcement of the fight, hence the reason why they've removed this page.

If it's Callum or BJS then are decent fights but there is no 'surprise' by any means.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑26 Feb 2020, 09:45
