He gave him credit. What do you want him to do prop him up on his shoulders, and carry him around the ring?

His legs (although never great) seemed even more off kilter than usual. Also.... he didn’t really seem to have any “pop/zip” on any of his shots at all. However they put that extra 17-19lbs of lean body mass on his frame played a part methinks.
That being said, no excuses, it CLEARLY was not his night. It happens to everyone.
So no excuses but something was clearly off this night. In any other night he would have won.

So you are now making excuses without excuses

How about this? The better man won. Fury figured out how to beat Wilder and executed that plan perfectly.

When Fury went over to Wilder at the end of the fight Wilder said "Tremendous fighter. You're a tremendous fighter".

The rest is just damage limitation as they are already trying to restore credibility for the third fight.

Blaming the suit is a bit much though.

Whose fault is that that his costume was too heavy? It is his own stupidity.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/deontay-wilde ... 00754.html
Speaking to Yahoo Sports after the seventh-round defeat, Wilder said: “He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is my uniform was way too heavy for me.

“I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.

“I was only able to put it on (for the first time]) the night before but I didn’t think it was going to be that heavy. It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries.

“I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything.”

40lbs for a short walk between his dressing room and the ring isn't particularly taxing though, is it? It's like having a three year old child sat on your shoulders.

I can barbell squat more than ten times that amount and it doesn’t cause my legs to fatigue.

I rewatched the fight sober this time. :OhYes:

Wilder was typical Wilder the first 2 rounds until he took that ear shot in the 3rd round that he never recovered from. Fury won fair and square. Remember people: Wilder does not win rounds ! He was arguably losing to Ortiz and Spilkva.

Wilder should take the rematch. If he's a shot fighter, he'd lose to a Kownacki type for a lot less money. If he isn't shot, he still has a good puncher's chance in the rematch.

Wilder is not Louis or Lewis. He is more like a rich man's Earnie Shavers. A he goes or you go type of guy as Angelo Dundee used to say.

If anything that should have helped him. He should have felt light as a feather after taking it off. Kind of like taking a donut off a bat.

Mark Breland = Scapegoat

A 16½ stone world-class heavily-muscled professional elite-level athlete at the peak of their physical prowess shouldn’t be fatigued due to carrying the equivalent of a three year old child sat on his shoulders for a very short walk!

A 3 year old child on the shoulders would actually be more taxing, his outfit was spread across his whole body so really should've felt like nothing for a 231 pro athlete

Melissa Anglesea, who helped design Tyson Fury's walk-in costume, was pretty scathing about Wilder's claim.

"Let's be honest - from a man that's six foot seven and weighs what Wilder does, a three-stone costume makes absolutely no ounce of difference," she told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Wilder weighed in at 231lb (16.5 stones) for Sunday's fight - the heaviest of his career.

Anglesea also added, "We've made costumes for heavyweight fighters, including Dillian Whyte, that are super-heavy because we've used 30,000 crystals, but he knocked Dereck Chisora out."

From the broadcast I watched:

Before the fight Wilder was pacing in the dressing room like a convict waiting to go up to a judge for sentencing.

Before the fight Fury was lounging on a choir, laughing, and looked as confident as a Supreme Court judge.

40lb costume as worn by Schwarzenegger.

Deontay Wilder's allegedly 40lb costume

Anyone else think his excuse is as flimsy as the Laser-tag armour he was wearing?

Here’s a video of Wilder performing a barbell bench squat with 70KG’s, which equates to 154lbs… and he makes it look as if he’s lifting polystyrene foam!

The main reason of Wilder's failure was Russians supporting Fury in social media and hacking into Wilder's costume.

Wlad "just didn't look like himself" when Fury beat him either. I mean, I didn't like Mayweather, but there came a point to acknowledge that guys were looking bad against him because he was really hard to fight, not because they all just didn't show up that night and would've done a lot better on some other night.

One time I held my daughter on my shoulders at Disney World throughout the whole final parade, continued to carry her all the way back to The Contemporary to get our Uber, rode to our hotel, carried her into the hotel, and still had the energy to spider monkey the wife in the shower later that night.

A ring walk with an extra 40 lbs. isn't shit.

Wlad didn't fight Fury. He stood there, and allowed Fury to win a decision in a staring contest. I'll never change my opinion on that fight. No matter what Fury achieves from there, the Fury/Wlad fight isn't a great performance. It's a stain on the sport and the Heavyweight Championship.

It's a hell of an achievement if you never actually watch the fight. Watching it devalues it completely because it wasn't a fight.

Right, and Wlad behaved that way because he couldn't figure out how to fight Fury, for which you have to credit Fury.

Any idiot should be able to figure out that to win a fight you throw some punches. Wlad didn't even try anything. He f*cking stood there.

I could've given a better effort.

BS Was he !!

Dead man walking, no chance.

Fury walked him down within the first 5seconds. Wilder simply couldn’t respond. Wilder has never fought on the back foot.

Hold on, Wilder can’t fight.

My call is, Fury did this SO well, it MADE Wilder look

I’m afraid it’s as simple as Wilder was caught on the head and dropped relatively early in the fight and simply never recovered and thereafter was pummelled by Fury.

Fury was strong and focused. The top of his game in fact and It was a career best performance from Fury, who was under real pressure going into this off the back of a poor performance, new training team & against a very dangerous puncher who had attracted a fair amount of hype and who was capable of sparking Fury with one punch. Fury wasn’t intimidated and was quite ruthless and assertive in a totally dominant performance.

On a slight side note, I don’t think Fury’s win against Wlad was great, certainly not the performance though the significance was big. Myself and my friends actually thought Wlad won the fight. But it was a fiddle fest and barely anything landed from either man.
