Wilder’s got a really good chin (8/10) and excellent powers of recovery.
His balance is terrible though, because he falls even when he hasn’t been punched.
His defence is also quite poor, since all he knows is to use his legs to get out of punching range, which means his guard is extremely leaky and he lacks head movement.

Hard to say, Ortiz is likely the best puncher he’s faced. I’d go 6/10 but it could be better. I think AJ is the man to test it, Tyson’s punches looked heavier than they ever have but I’m not sold on him as a KO guy yet. Tbh a lot of his punches before this fight were tragic in terms of technique.

A good chin, 8 out of 10. Wilder can take a punch, but shows far from freakish durability, as he gets wobbled from time to time.
Re: Deontay Wilder Chin ... Rank it ?
..probably not that great 'cause he gets occasionally wobbled, but then again it might as well be due to his lack of balance/coordination..
Re: Deontay Wilder Chin ... Rank it ?
He has a decent chin and recovers well. He has a glass ear though

Good chin. He's took some big shots in his career. 7/10.
Re: Deontay Wilder Chin ... Rank it ?
6.5
If it was lower he couldn't have gotten as far as he has. He's no Ali or Chuvalo in that department.

7 to 8 chin, he can take punches and get back fast, despite him being built like a cruiser among many giants.

I don't think you can rate him badly for his chin. It seems pretty obvious the first big right fury landed burst his ear drum. His balance was completely gone after that. He took quite a few clumps after that and still took several more rounds to put him away.

obvious except for all the confirmation that has happened after the fight that he didn't burst his ear drum, at least as far as I have seenjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Feb 2020, 11:11 I don't think you can rate him badly for his chin. There was no burst eardrum.
It was a cut inside his ear

or, Wilder behaved like a man with very very skinny legs who'd been punched in the head...jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Feb 2020, 11:44I find that hard to fathom. He was wobbly as hell. It certainly behaved like a perforated eardrum.
or, like a man who had to walk to the ring in a heavier-than-anticipated suit...

For a skinny man Wilder has very good chin. His chin is not a problem. 7/10? Definitely not a weak chin.

Wilder took big shots from ortiz before and recovered well, his equilibrium was clearly shot to bits several rounds later.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑25 Feb 2020, 11:54or, Wilder behaved like a man with very very skinny legs who'd been punched in the head...jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Feb 2020, 11:44

I'm sure wearing a ridiculous heavy suit is a hit tiring, but don't buy that.
Re: Deontay Wilder Chin ... Rank it ?
I agree...............
I am not really sure if any of the top level HWs has 8/10 or better (maybe Usyk, but he has not been tested at HW yet).
