Re: Stupidest Excuses
Someone in my work broke their back recently. I was telling a colleague who hadn’t heard the news and they said “Really? How?”, allowing me to reply “Spinal!” with a huge grin.
Sadly, they didn’t get the reference and no doubt now think I’m a complete cvnt for laughing about someone breaking their back.

I'll have references pop into my mind at inopportune moments like that sometimes too. Sometimes I don't say 'em out loud, but it causes me to smile at a time I shouldn't be smiling
Sometimes I DO say 'em out loud. Just depends.

Honey I forgot to duck - Jack Dempsey
The Hearns loss to Hagler was blamed on the massage by Steward, but Hearns said it was running 8 miles a day instead of his usual 5-6 miles.
Mark Breland blamed his loss to Starling on not getting his afro cut.

Actually he made about 3 excuses then said ‘no excuses Fury won.’HeavyHitters wrote: ↑24 Feb 2020, 13:04 Wilder stated in the post fight interview while still in the ring, that he won't make any excuses, and that Tyson Fury was the better man on this day. He made no excuses when it mattered most. Right then and there after the fight while everyone was still there to see.
He might have made excuses later on.... but that is probably after his handlers, friends and family whispered into his ear. But I'll take what he said directly after the fight, to heart.

"I took a dive"
Then backtracked when actual video footage of the fight and KO emerged.

Didn't Benn blame his cycling shorts for the Collins 1 defeat, said he wouldn't have stumbled and injured himself if it wasn't for the cycle shorts.

Enlighten me..... What exactly were the 3 excuses he made during the brief interview inside the ring, directly after the fight?jameswilson wrote: ↑24 Feb 2020, 18:30Actually he made about 3 excuses then said ‘no excuses Fury won.’HeavyHitters wrote: ↑24 Feb 2020, 13:04 Wilder stated in the post fight interview while still in the ring, that he won't make any excuses, and that Tyson Fury was the better man on this day. Re: Stupidest Excuses
I thought it was the boots he was wearing and the lack of strapping on his ankle. He did fall awkwardly and in the rematch his ankle was strapped.
I know foreman said after the Ali defeat that he found any excuse he could including his boots being too tight.

Actually he made about 3 excuses then said ‘no excuses Fury won.’
Straight away he said he had a lot of complications coming in, and that his legs were poor before the fight, and also blames his corner and now he's blaming his ringwalk outfit LOL

Re: Stupidest Excuses
So he’s a “warrior”whose costume was too heavy
Re: Stupidest Excuses
It’s no laughing matter, warrior costumes are getting heavier and heavier these days. It’s a real problem for warriors...
Re: Stupidest Excuses
Tarver and Wlad blaming upset defeats to Hopkins and Brewster respectively on being poisoned.
Someone getting to Tarver’s steak.
And I think Don King poisoning Wlad.
Hard for people to take responsibility sometimes.

Re: Stupidest Excuses
A positive rather than realistic mindset is a big weapon in boxing.
If you can convince yourself you are going to win the chances increase greatly.
If Wilder has a sit down and convinces himself that he is too small, too weak, too unskilled, lacking stamina and won't be able to get off with his big shots there isn't much point in him continuing.
If he convinces himself that it was the damn suit and everything will work with a better suit he has a chance.

The drawback is if it's the suit, maybe he doesn't change anything about his fight preparation or approach once he's thereCoco wrote: ↑26 Feb 2020, 07:14 A positive rather than realistic mindset is a big weapon in boxing.

This is pretty much it, sportspeople have big ego's and to maintain self belief they can't ever let themselves believe they were beaten by a better opponent.Coco wrote: ↑26 Feb 2020, 07:14 A positive rather than realistic mindset is a big weapon in boxing.

That was a sh1t excuse wasnt it hahaLenny Cravats wrote: ↑24 Feb 2020, 03:54 I loved it when Glen Catley announced to everyone in his post fight interview that he'd had diarrhoea all week.
Though he did win that fight...… and then asked his girlfriend to marry him in the same speech.
Always loved Glen as a fighter.
Anyone know what he's up to these days?
