None to speak of. I guess I'd say Parker if he counts.
Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Andy Ruiz probably
Though his time as a "top level" Heavyweight won't be much longer because he's too lazy.

Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
It's a good question, because all the big 3 have either been down, stopped, wobbled, or all three.
Of the big 3, Fury is the only one who hasn't been stopped, but he is better at protecting his chin than Joshua and Wilder, so I cannot say for sure.
You probably have to drop to the next tier and it's arguably Joseph Parker.

I think probably everyone in the top ten has been on the deck, not sure if that shows a certain fragility in today’s heavies or just how competitive the division is ?

Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Wilder has shown a good chin. He's been hit countless times clean by many. What they all say? Any HW can knock any HW down.
Fury's chin ain't bad at all.
Parker, I think, has a solid chin.
Overall, no HW's chin is the best, because HW's are made to be dropped.
Name me a top 10 HW that has not been dropped hard?

Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Given the shear size and strength of the Heavyweights who are knocking lumps out of eachother nowadays, it is no surprise that they all hit the canvass now and then.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 08:20 Wilder has shown a good chin. It is said that be best chin is the one that doesn't get hit. So, given the fact he has the best defence at heavyweight, you probably have to give to Fury (even though he was dropped by a natural Cruiserweight and a C level opponent early in his career).

I'd name Fury, Wilder, Ruiz Jr, Parker to be the main candidates for the best HW chin today. Povetkin is also around. Usyk probably should be considered too. He took some good shots of Briedis and Gassiev's punch, even though Gassiev was able to land clean only once. Yes, formally those were cruiserweight bouts, but still it isn't that big difference.
Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Fury's chin is bang average at best, just doesn't get hit alot. You just need to look at who he's been dropped or wobbled by. AJ gets rocked alot but has only been dropped by two guys. Wilder seemingly had a great chin until he got dropped by the feather fisted Fury but that was a different offence from Fury. Of those three it's probably Wilder though he hasn't faced many skilled heavy hitters.
Realistically top 10 it's probably Parker and Ruiz. Some of the others either haven't faced anyone good enough recently or are clearly out of the picture.

What makes people think Wilder's chin is so much better than AJs? I see it a lot but they seem similar
Wilder down vs Sconiers and Fury
AJ down vs Wlad and Ruiz
Wilder rocked by Molina and Ortiz
AJ rocked by Whyte
Wilder stopped by Fury
AJ stopped by Ruiz

So much better? Nah.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 11:10 What makes people think Wilder's chin is so much better than AJs? I see it a lot but they seem similar
But I think it's better simply because Wilder took Luiz Ortiz's punches (who is a knockout artist, and he has a better KO ratio than Andy Ruiz Jr. has) and nothing happened to Wilder, not even a knock down.

Ruiz and Parker.

He had him all over the place in the first fight, mate.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 12:27So much better? Nah.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 11:10 What makes people think Wilder's chin is so much better than AJs? I see it a lot but they seem similar

Oh, sorry you said first fight. But it's still impressive that there was no knockdown in the first too.

If you catch anyone on the chin or liver, hard enough, when they don't expect it, they will go down.
The difference is some people don't let that happen very often.

you can tell that to the moist morons on here a million times. they just don't get, don't know and never will be able to understand what a technically sound punch by a trained man above 200 pounds does to the CHIN/head/nervous system IF you don't see it coming not able to react even a split second before it hits you. EVERY MAN BORN FROM A MOTHER GOES DOWN !!!

Not every man; ever heard of Oliver McCall, George Chuvalo, or if you want to go lighter, Marvin Hagler or Mike McCallum?adislav123 wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 15:07you can tell that to the moist morons on here a million times. they just don't get, don't know and never will be able to understand what a technically sound punch by a trained man above 200 pounds does to the CHIN/head/nervous system IF you don't see it coming not able to react even a split second before it hits you. Some guys do have chins from the ages & it's a worthwhile discussion.

Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
It's true
I've seen it a few times people say the guys with the best chins are the ones who can take a big shot, get up, and recover (guys like Froch for example). But there is a select breed of guys who can take those shots without going down in the first place. That is the highest level of chin.

Whoever is left standing after Joyce Vs Doobie will be a candidate. Both these guys can bang, and ummm... are easy to hit.
Plus, by today's division, the winner will be top level. Well top #10 anyway.

Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Not only that, very seldom do these anvil like guys even get wobbled by shots from somebody. I mean over the course of a career you're bound to get knocked off balance or something somewhere along the way, but these guys seldom even stumble or get hurt in a noticeable way a lot of the time.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 15:26 It's true

Very rare those guys. Often it's the guys that their toughness is what keeps 'em in the game because their skills are average.
Hagler and McCallum obviously being an exception to that.
Lamotta, Chuvalo, McCall though. Their toughness was definitely their best asset in the ring.
Re: Which HW (the top level only) has the best chin ?
Noone mentioned (considering boxers who are no more active) Vitali Klitschko. He is the best example of the top level HW with an excellent chin.gilgamesh wrote: ↑09 Mar 2020, 16:06Not only that, very seldom do these anvil like guys even get wobbled by shots from somebody. From top 10? Andy Ruiz Jr. and Joseph Parker. I don't think Wilder has a good chin at all. He was dropped hard and hurt on multiple occasions by Tyson Fury (big guy but not a big puncher), was knocked down by Harold Sconiers, was hurt badly by Ortiz in the first fight, was even hurt twice by Eric Molina. Wilder has exceptional power but his chin is far from good

People saying chins don't matter at heavyweight... if david price and and Andy Ruiz traded chins, would price be World Champ? Would Ruiz be 0-30... Garrentee things wouldent he as they are.
