Eddie and Frank - can we have some shows please?

Post by magnus »

British boxing is booming - according to Twitter etc, quite understandably given the Fury performance and other Brits at/near the top of their divisions (Smith, Taylor).

Yet February is nearly over and the two major promoters have treated us to two shows between them so far this year - a Kell Brook pension topper and a York Haller.

I think that Franks next scheduled bill is in April (and that's PPV).

I realise that Matchroom have put on a couple of shows in the US, but between them the two big boys have dozens of inactive fighters and BT/Sky are putting fornicate all boxing on at peak times.

Hope lies with Big Mick.

I posted a similar thread a month ago after going through the schedule. Feckin grim! Sky have Quigg v Carroll next weekend which should be decent.

It's a reasonable bill, and I don't particularly care if there aren't "world" titles attached to every main event, but there's just so few it's ridiculous.

Look at the likes of James Metcalfe or Mark Heffron, fighting nobodies in small hall. Both exciting to watch and both should be progressing and getting tv coverage.

I'd even take a NextGen card once a month...

Ha! Yeah. All your UK shows I get to watch live start at 5am on a Sunday morning. Now I love a beer with my boxing, but it is bloody difficult to get one down at that time of the morning, well, the first one at least

A Bournemouth show was rumoured with Chris Biolam Smith headlining too. That may be soon to be confirmed.

Sweet
I like those shows, often there are better, more even matchups than the big events.

Looks like Matchroom have got a decent next 3 months lined up , it's Frank who's struggling to have any sort of schedule apart from the Dubois / Joyce show they've got less shows than Mick Hennessy lined up , forgot about Josh Warrington for Matchroom that's another big bill in Leeds ?

Frank will have Josh Taylor 2nd May Glasgow - Top Rank but he’s working on it.

Frank has one small York Hall he said today.

Frampton will be June in Belfast.

Issue now with Taylor 2nd May - Whyte/Povetkin is rumoured for that night & then on the Canelo during night v Brit probably.

17th April US was Campbell/Fortuna & Regis Prograis.

GGG now May.

BJS or Smith or both will need a fight.

Joshua in June and Saudi Arabia lined up for last week in June or 1st week in July.

Frank doesn’t have many fighters that can headline shows in their own right.

He’s being helped by Bob with the Josh Taylor and Frampton shows, he’s got Dubois/Yarde, on the PPV show and they’ve got Liam Williams who’s on a good run.

Outside of that he doesn’t really have any fighters that you’d think could do 3-4K tickets so York Hall will be getting lots of use and he’ll have to match his fighters hard.
