Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
Reports in the press today , from FW, that Saudi Arabia could be the destination for this fight when it's made.
I think it would be an absolute disgrace if the biggest heavyweight fight in British history was to take place anywhere but Britain. I know it's all about maximising profit but come on......
100,000 at Wembley plus over a million PPVs how much money do people want to make. It's up to Fury and Joshua I think , to make it clear now that they'll only take the fight in this country. If Man U and Liverpool were to play an FA cup final in Riyadh there would be absolute apoplexy .
I realise there' s contracts to consider but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't stipulate WHERE a fight should take place.
I would be disappointed in particular at Fury and FW who are basically 'boxing people' if they took this route. I get the impression it would make no difference to Hearn as he's simply a businessman .

You'd guess it's even more likely to be Saudi if they end up paying Wilder massive step aside money to make it happen.

Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
It WILL be up to Tyson Fury and AJ so you’re right in what you say.
Fury has already alluded if the fight happens he’d like it in Saudi or wherever makes the most money.
If you were in a job where you make big money 4 or 5 times in your career then you want the biggest one to be for as much as possible. Why should Tyson Fury give a f uck about us cu nts? What because we once bought a ticket or a few tickets for £50 he has to take a payday of £20 million less?

The fight if it happens will take place at the venue and country that pays the most money this is a business and not a sport
Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
If they fight anywhere but the UK, it makes them greedy bastards who are taking away from the UK what would be the sporting event of the year. They are both set up for life but for a bit more dough they would be ready to give the British sporting public the finger and head to the desert? I would be raging, and certainly wouldn't be spending my hard earned on a PPV.jameswilson wrote: ↑28 Feb 2020, 11:20 It WILL be up to Tyson Fury and AJ so you’re right in what you say.

Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
The only way this fight happens in the UK is if a UK based billionaire bankroll the fight and makes a loss.
It won't happen, obviously. Billionaires don't become billionaires by making losses.
The Saudi Royal family seem to want to throw huge amounts of money away hosting sporting events, until that stops we will continue to see events like this going to the middle east.
On the plus side, at least the start time won't be 5am.

Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
On the grounds of making it a huge sporting event and morals of everyone involved, it will be and has to be in the UK. These fighters are already multi millionaires and will continue to make money after this fight, whether that will be fighting abroad or into their retirements.
Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
Unless Boris Johnson puts up a lot of money for it it will end up in Saudi Arabia.

If it’s true they are willing to pay £400m it’s definitely gonna be happening, they will probably have to pay a few mil in step aside money to DW and maybe AJs mandatories, but fighters are generally up for getting millions to not have a fight.

There will be zero atmosphere in the arena, unless they're giving tickets away to UK people.keirw wrote: ↑28 Feb 2020, 12:03 The only way this fight happens in the UK is if a UK based billionaire bankroll the fight and makes a loss.

Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
I said before I can't see it happening here there's just not enough money here to pay them both what they deserve, if you look at the biggest fights here at Wembley froch Vs groves 2 or any of AJ fights your talking around £10,000,000 between froch and groves not sure what AJ gets but I guess it's around that figure so where is the other £30/40,000,000 coming from to pay both AJ and Fury .
Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
I don't think there will be many millionaires reading this.
But I can only guess what its like. However , if I have assets of say £ 10 million and I'm offered a fight in Saudi which will earn me £30 million or a fight in the UK which will earn me £10 million I've got to ask ( naiively) what real difference would the extra money make?
If I 'm a super rich businessman like Richard Branson or the like my 'job' I suppose is to make more money possibly to re-invest in projects which interest me.
But Joshua and Fury are ordinary punters who've got lucky by being top class heavyweight boxers. They are now richer than their wildest dreams even before a fight with each other. So what would either do with an extra £10 - £15 million. They're never going to offer flights on a rocket into outer space as a unique holiday ( Branson) are they ?
Think about it - once you buy your super home ( in Morecambe?) a flat in central London and holiday home in Florida and Dubai. Your Ferrari, private jet, and as much jewellery you can wear each day you've still got millions left.
Someone with 'class' would insist on the fight being in Britain. Someone who can rise above pure greed and has the 'character' to say to Hearn and Warren and DAZN and the Saudi Prince -no!! I'm my own man.
You're right - no chance .

They'll have to up the ticket prices massively. Prices here are always cheaper than Vegas but even then they won't have the site fee that the casinos stump up.paddy chavez wrote: ↑28 Feb 2020, 14:00 I said before I can't see it happening here there's just not enough money here to pay them both what they deserve, if you look at the biggest fights here at Wembley froch Vs groves 2 or any of AJ fights your talking around £10,000,000 between froch and groves not sure what AJ gets but I guess it's around that figure so where is the other £30/40,000,000 coming from to pay both AJ and Fury .

Why did i do that because i was treated to a night of 20 quality ameteur bouts where the lads gave it all , and were all super fit , some of the seniour fights were crackers , a real good nights entertainment , and what do they get , a Trophy , . it was well worth the $45 for tickets and raffles . I also promised to have a big sheild made , to be donated to best juniur , a encouregment thing , , ,, glad to spend my money with them for all the hard work the boxers and officials put in for NOTHING .
Now the day after , Fury and Wilder , was on ,, what did i do I had a couple of mates rnd , and i streamed it ,, my mates said what if its not on , what if you can't get it , what if its a bad stream ,,, my answer , jump in the car quick and within one rnd the missis will drop us at the pub ,, Fook em i'm not paying them or at least helping to pay them $30 million each they don't deserve it ,, and after all has you will hear Frank , Eddie , Bob Arum say ,,, ITS BUISNESS ,,, SO I AGREE AND TO ME ITS BAD BUISNESS TO PAY $60 TO WATCH AN UNFIT wILDER gas and blow out of his arse after he gets one hard punch to the ear inside a couple of rnds ,, or a big fat Ruiz who could'nt even be bothered training , or an AJ who is notorious for gassing , stuffe i'm gonna stream

It's not THAT devoid of atmosphere in Vegas. I know where you're coming from, but it's not really an equivalency.
Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
Suppose the one good thing about it going to Saudi is , Stub Hub will miss out , and thousands upon thousands will not miss out to the wembley tickets , , plus its a good time of night to stream it

No doubt.
I'd be shocked if there isn't a rematch clause in the Fury - Joshua fight.... And if it's anything like close, they're likely to do it again. That's probably a couple of years before either of them is available again.
Re: Fury v Joshua outwith the UK
At this point I'm actually looking forward to a couple of years from now when the likes of Dubs; Efe; Hrg; Makhmudov; et al will be vying for top spot. Let these guys today work out who is number one (although I think Fury is firmly there already) and get on with the next generation.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 18:37No doubt.
