David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
How would this play out ?
Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Haye by KO. At his weights Haye was faster. The fight would start in a tactical fashion. Then Haye would time a KO punch, chinny Roy wouldn't take it.
Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Haye by KO 9

Never understood at all why people make such a big deal about David Haye. Picking Jones by easy decision.
Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
And Jones at CW and HW deserves so big deal.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑19 Feb 2020, 11:53 Never understood at all why people make such a big deal about David Haye. Picking Jones by easy decision.

I'd pick Roy Jones on points ,Haye was fast and could bang but Roy was in another level skill and speed wise and I'd think the light heavyweight Jones from before Ruiz would of won

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Haye, much more powerful and with the speed to make him a bad match for Roy
Roy's skills were on another level? He was obviously super gifted but his skills were always far second to his insane natural ability. He declined so hard because he didn't have the skills there to back him up once his raw talents etc started slowing

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
You think haye was faster than jones? That's madness. David wasn't very active at heavy, lot of feints and nothing coming from him. Jones wide on points.
Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
For the record, I'd take Haye and I don't think he'd have a problem with Jones. Late stoppage for Haye.

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Evidence of Haye's credibility at the CWs and the HWs was better, than Jones' one. Period.

It's absolutely delusional to say, that Jones' resume is better than Haye's one in their mutual weights.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑22 Feb 2020, 21:20Yeah that's right. Haye beat..... , umm, well there was.....

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Not really going by "resume". Obviously Jones only fight in his career above light heavy.
I would pick some great fighters at lower weights to beat far less fighters that were in a weight class above them. It's not exactly a radical thought.
But no, I am not at all impressed by Haye's resume. He doesn't have one win in his entire career that make me think he was that good at all.

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
What does resume have to do with speed? No, Jones does not have a better resume at heavy or cruiser than David. Nothing wrong with picking haye to win, calling him faster is laughable. Ruiz has a better heavy resume than both combined and they both shellacked him. How'd that happen?DrDuke wrote: ↑23 Feb 2020, 00:13It's absolutely delusional to say, that Jones' resume is better than Haye's one in their mutual weights.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑22 Feb 2020, 21:20

Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
The thing is, Jones didn't prove his speed as something special particularly at HW. His performance against Ruiz wasn't too impressive. It sounded better, than it looked. Light heavyweight beat heavyweight, ok, but that heavyweight sucked. Jones, of course, was faster with his normal weight, but with a heavyweight build it's a different thing.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Feb 2020, 15:35What does resume have to do with speed? Re: David Haye versus Roy Jones jr.
Haye has a quite impressive CW resume. We probably shouldn't look at Jones at CW at all, cause he competed there when he was way past it. But at HW Haye even whooped Ruiz in a more impressive fashion, because he didn't just outboxed him, but also battered. Chisora demolition was a great performance too and a very good scalp. These two fights already can give a hint, how Haye-Jones heavyweight bout could have looked like.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑28 Feb 2020, 15:25 Not really going by "resume".
