Kenny is horrific for every fight. He talks way too much, tries to create controversies that are not there and talks about everything under the sun except for the fight going on in the ring.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 00:06 Kenny was horrific in the Harris fight. Great effort from Jay, mora is putrid.

10-9 Vargas - started well and landed at least one decent punch.

20-18 JV edges a close round on volume.

Garcia looks to have worked JV out a little bit in the 3rd.

28-28 Mikey pulls it level with greater accuracy.
Re: Kal Yafai vs. Roman Gonzalez - 29 February 2020
58-55 JV just looking to survive.

It’s weird for me watching this. Garcia looks supreme but at the same time he looks positively fat.
At least 1 weight class too high but his talent carrying him through these kind of fights.

Yeah - what's better about being a top 5 Welterweight than an HOF Lightweight, Mikey ?

Clear Mikey win but looked a bit flat, defense was a bit lazy, one-paced, and got hurt in the 4th. Still a very accurate and sharp puncher

Re: Kal Yafai vs. Roman Gonzalez - 29 February 2020
Guessing he wants to be 5 weight world champ. The welter move will definatly be worth it if he can get and win the pacman fight. Big ifs though... after that though he needs to move back down to 140 then mabey even down again to 135 for that loma fight.... unless there is the worst ever 154 lb champ he can fight.....

I get he wants 5th title at diff weight class but he’s never a 147 - he could probably do 135/140 easily as he doesn’t look solid at weight as you say.jameswilson wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 00:54 It’s weird for me watching this. Garcia looks supreme but at the same time he looks positively fat.

Pleased with this victory. The fight Yafai wanted and the one he got. The one he lost.

I thought Gonzalez would be just much too good for Yafai and I absolutely love Gonzalez so this was a great result, really looking forward to catching up with this one.

Outstanding from Gonzalez, showed theres life in the old dog yet, he totally outclassed Yafai in there and systematically tore him apart, I actually thought Yafai started off well, he looked massive compared to Gonzalez and for the first couple of minutes looked like he was doing a decent job of imposing his size and strength on him but by the end of the 1st Gonzalez looked to have found his rhythm and from then on just got better and better, Yafai just couldn't deal with the fluidity, angles and volume of Gonzalez, his inside fighting was levels above Yafai and he was able to effortlessly get his combinations off, the body work was first class and he has every punch in the book and uses them all to good effect
Yafai maybe could've changed things up and tried to use the ring and jab but easier said than done, Gonzalez looked as comfortable pressing Yafai when he backed up so I doubt it would've made much difference Gonzlaez is different gravy, Yafai was looking more and more broken each passing round, the knockdown in the 8th he was overwhelmed after taking clean shots, I wouldn't have complained if his corner pulled him out at the end of the round you could see he was spent, still Gonzalez gave a conclusive finish next round, blinded Yafai with the jab and came over with a cracker of a right hand to end things, gutted for Yafai but you cant argue with that showing from Gonzalez, he oozes class

Yafai seemed to peak in the Casimero fight, he looked great that night.
Since then he looked mediocre, strong, but mediocre.
Chocolatito looked great though and in the grand scheme of things there is no real shame in losing to a legend like that.
I can see Yafai moving up and maybe having a decent go of it at bantam.
Provided he avoids the monster of course.....

I think Yafai might have at least went the distance if he'd stayed away and opted to box and move like he as in some previous fights. Trying to go toe to toe with Chocolatito made me think Yafai and his team hadn't watched any of his fights. He's a high volume fighter who will throw three or four times as many punches as you do and once he starts enjoying himself he will throw every punch in the book.handsofstone wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 07:53 Outstanding from Gonzalez, showed theres life in the old dog yet, he totally outclassed Yafai in there and systematically tore him apart, I actually thought Yafai started off well, he looked massive compared to Gonzalez and for the first couple of minutes looked like he was doing a decent job of imposing his size and strength on him but by the end of the 1st Gonzalez looked to have found his rhythm and from then on just got better and better, Yafai just couldn't deal with the fluidity, angles and volume of Gonzalez, his inside fighting was levels above Yafai and he was able to effortlessly get his combinations off, the body work was first class and he has every punch in the book and uses them all to good effect

Prince Patel did well to be called out by chocolatito at one stage. Patel peaked at that moment.

He had a mediocre/crap reign. He should have already lost the belt TBH.samwbr wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 07:33Did he piss in your tea?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 05:33 Pleased with this victory. The fight Yafai wanted and the one he got. The one he lost.
