Its hard to think of someone who had such a mismatch. Crolla had NOTHING to trouble Loma with. You could say Gary Lockett had a punchers chance vs Pavlik. Khan has quicker hands than Canelo or Crawford. Brook had concussive power at 147 and a unique style and he did in fact get the better of golovkin in round 2 and land some big shots. Corolla had absolutely no attribute that gave him a modicum of a chance of causing any kind of problem for Loma. There was not one thing crolla had for Loma to worry about.

Facts are if your a profesional fighter at or abvove British level and your offered a big money fight to go to the states, have a crack at a world title , your gonna take it , thats what your working for .
But on the otherside of the coin , if your brought there for cannon fodder , well chances are most have been fed on cannon fodder to get there anyway , so in reality , if what goes round comes round , you can often count yourself lucky , theres , lots of others who will gladly stand in line shouting Pick me Pick me

Crolla simply puts in workmanlike performances. That's about it.. Sometimes it's enough to win bouts, sometimes it's not.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑14 Apr 2019, 20:41 Its hard to think of someone who had such a mismatch. Crolla had NOTHING to trouble Loma with. And Clarke was competitive enough while it lasted.

Been listening to Tris Dixon's Gary Lockett episode on podcast , there is a great bit where Lockett said he was looking at a title fight, and pavlik had been mentioned.
Gary recalled Dean Powell (rip), calling him a short time later saying sit down Gary, we have the Pavlik fight. Gary recalled holding the phone away shouting oh F##k!! , very honest and great interview from Gary , highly reccommend .

John Murray against Branson Rios was quite brutal.

Eddie couldn't stop boasting when he announced DAZN.
Now they've signed Canelo and GGG.
Will DAZN be good for Matchroom?

But he's trousered a few dollars so he will still be a smug tw@t.mickey1975 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 17:42 Eddie has had all his fighters duffed up in front of a few thousand subscribers!
Re: British boxers taken to sacrificial altar in USA
So far the best fighters and content on DAZN has come outside of the Eddie / Matchroom connection and all he was bringing to the table was the second biggest money generator in the sport in AJ. I imagine John Skipper is already regretting the deal with Edward and if Ruiz repeats the win I'd imagine that they will trigger a get-out clause.
Re: British boxers taken to sacrificial altar in USA
To be fair Coyle had been begging for a fight in the US and then when he got one vs a well matched opponent he begged for another one vs someone people had heard of. With predictable consequences.
Kelly is a different story, I have a funny feeling that Robinson was originally going to be Brook's opponent. If that was the case, I think Kelly actually did quite well. It was a step up vs a very experienced southpaw on his first trip overseas and the draw was a fair result.

Kal Yafai the latest Matchroom offering.

What are Matchroom meant to do? Yafai’s been champ a few years, hasn’t done anything special (other than a good title win) and the names/money in the division are in North America.
Yafai had 2 titles before in the US against lower level guys and won and now faces one of the very best and got beat. That happens when you want fighters to be stepped up. Fighters are criticised for poor title defences and then when they are stepped up, and lose, the promoters are criticised.
Without knowing the odds on the fight I would have thought they were pretty tight

They could have stepped him up gradually, instead of feeding him low level guys and then suddenly put him in with an elite level guy?maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 08:35What are Matchroom meant to do?
