Depends on the content they have, streaming football is useless compared to SKY/BT due to the time lag and buffering. DAZN won't have any of the Matchroom UK content to start with so will have the USA fights we have been getting for free so even £4.99 a month is a rip off

Long term this could present real value for us UK boxing fans, I personally would love ALL boxing content for 4.99/month although realistically in a few years when they eventually sign up AJ that cost will probably be double.

Sky Sports Boxing must be concerned about this, Adam Smith recently transitioned into a more commercial role, Barney Francis (a long term supporter of the boxing division) has since moved up the ladder - I think they must feel some frustration at Hearn. He's chased the American (although DAZN are a UK based company) dollar and looks like he's left them in the lurch.

But who cares about that, for the fans this could be great news.

It’ll be interesting to see how the DANZ / Sky dynamic works - I’m not sure it’ll make much difference to BT to be honest.

True mate. It's only 5 quid a month (to start with) but i very rarely stay up for fights anymore as it fukks me up during the following week If they're showing Canelo v BJS i'll pay it and stay up though

Great news for boxing fans.

Just a fiver a month, on top of your Sky, BT and allegedly (I assume 3 or 4 people still subscribe) monthly payments.

That just covers the shows no one gives a fornicate about, obviously (like the two Matchroom and Frank have managed between them in the UK so far in 2020, one of which weirdly ended up on ITV).

For the premium stuff, we're invited to dip into the wallet:

April: DD vs Joyce
May: Chisora vs Uysk, Whyte vs Povetkin (presumably on separate shows)
June: AJ vs Pulev
July: Fury v Wilder

Hopefully other domestic promoters will be in with a shout, they won't have big domestic names but who knows there's plenty of free agents so with a lucrative domestic DAZN budget behind them maybe they can put something together. I've been waiting for DAZN to launch in the UK and the monthly fee is nominal but frankly since I won't stay up in the night to watch live shows unless it's unmissable, there is no difference in watching (say) Canelo vs BJS on DAZN or on youtube the next morning anyway. I want DAZN to prosper in the UK, Sky have had it easy for far too long and have become very greedy so I won't shed a tear for them Matchroom walks away from Sky whenever the contract is up.

Sky would surely need MTK if Matchroom walks for content wise - or else they would be near enough out the picture Boxing wise.

Unless Sky done deal with Top Rank/MTK for all their product instead to try counter.

As DAZN budget I’ll give Hearn much more room to play in the UK show wise - where as he’s restricted monies wise now because Sky’s right fee isn’t enough to put shows on with fighters getting more money now.

The commercial world spins on supply and demand. A gallon of water to a thirsty man in the desert is worth a million pounds.
So with all these companies supplying boxing and other sports the supply will exceed the demand and the whole thing begins to unravel. allegedly fell but DAZN is going to succeed??

Apart from Fury v Wilder I now depend on highlights down the road and the reports in Boxing News.

Hearn himself actually said the future further down the line would be streaming - and that people couldn’t afford to keep spending £100-£150 month on TV and eventually that model would take over.

If DAZN/Top Rank and others offered same type of package at $150 for year - you couldn’t hesitate to buy for the content as Boxing Fan.

I love dazn, but they've lost a sensational amount of money here. Hundreds of millions that they'll never recoup on boxing. Sorry to see happen over there what happened here many years ago. Fighters are way overpaid.

Personally I agree, it’ll die on its arse soon enough but if consumers can get prem games boxing and more for a year or two before it does who cares.
