Jared Anderson small step up.

Post by oogiebe »

US HW Prospect Jared Anderson is set to fight vs Johnnie Langston in Las Vegas in scheduled 6 rounder on the undercard of Naoya Inoue vs John Riel Casimero on April 25th.

Langston lost a SD to Roney Hines in his last fight and has beaten some usual suspects as Grover Young, Joel Caudle, and Terrell Jamal Woods. For Anderson it will be his fifth pro fight since turning pro in late October.

Anderson is scheduled for his fourth fight against an unnamed opponent on March 13th in Toledo.

As I've posted before, I'm liking this kid. He has good skills; moves well and has a dynamite jab. At just 20 years old he has plenty of time to further develop and may grow some more to his frame of 6'4" and 235 LBS.

Thanks for the heads up, Oog!! Good idea picking Langston. Jared should handle him a lot easier than Hines did. Also glad to see Anderson has 2 bouts scheduled in the next 8 weeks...he needs to stay busy as possible this early in his career!!

I'm hoping the lad shows some defensive improvements, as he seems to get careless at times and takes shots he doesn't have to.

I was recently updating my own records (I keep a book on heavyweights that either show promise or are always fighting those that do), and I got to Grover Young - firmly in the latter category. I noticed since the last update he'd been beaten (what else) by a guy I hadn't heard of who at that time was undefeated, five and O IIRC.

That guy was Johnnie Langston and it seems to me he's a good choice for Anderson's fourth fight. It sounds like he gave Roney a decent workout.

Good observation. Grover Young was actually a low-level gatekeeper early in his career, mostly at super middle & light heavy. Young fought some good prospects at that point...Sergei Kovalev, Badou Jack, Malik Scott, etc. But now that he has blimped up to HW the caliber of his opposition has gone down.

Looks like Langston could also become a low-level gatekeeper...but at HW & cruiser.

I gotta admit it never registered with me that he started out so light.

VS Satterfield.

NOTE: A funny poster said Anderson is a "blown up CW." Yeah...he looks fat and bloated.

Andersons decent but I don't think he that guy to be the next popular HW. I think David Adeleye a 6'5 brute from the U.K is though . Both were in Furys training camp for wilder . David Adeleye is a future belt contender .

Too early to tell with either, but I saw Adeleye in his debut. He hit his opponent a ton but couldn't put him down. He does have the look though.

Beat me to it Oog. He is not short of muscles and looks quite intimidating but he's smart, articulate and outgoing. He delayed turning pro until he'd got his degree from uni. He seems a very likeable character too.

Edit: That's David Adeleye I mean not Jared.
