Ha, I remember that Bonsante fight! Very bizarre. Gotta blame the fighter in instances like this.jujigatame wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 23:00
Cutelaba seems like a legit moron. The stoppage was bad but if you watch the replay you can see what the ref saw, which was Cutelaba wobbling around and staring into the distance rather than keeping his eyes on his opponent. If he was really putting on an act it reminds me of the Adonis Stevenson vs. Anthony Bonsante fight where Bonsante got dropped in the 1st round and psyched the ref into thinking he was KO'd cold when he wasn't.

So if you have basically an even round, then one of the combatant's scores a quick knockdown, the knockdown wouldn't edge the decision for you?p4p1 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 01:54I don’t think takedowns should score at all unless take down defence is scored. The advantage of getting a takedown should be enough on its own.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑25 Feb 2020, 16:52
I agree they carry too much weight. If a fighter scores a takedown, but there was no significant control, it shouldn't count too much. However, if a quick TD is scored in a razor thin round, then I do consider it to secure the round for the one getting the TD. I'd have to watch the 5th round again to decide if Felder should have taken that round despite the TD. I'm a bit fuzzy on it but iirc, I had Felder ahead in that round at the time of the TD.
IMO, offense should score, not defense. Which is why I don't think takedown defense should be considered in the point system. The one attempting the takedown is still dictating the bout. Now if the fighter is landing strikes while defending a takedown, like landing elbows to the head, etc... then yeah, it should be scored accordingly.
Re: MMA
Knockdowns are different from a takedown though. A takedown is a transitional move and is its own advantage. I get what you're saying about the close round but if the guy taken down pops back up immediately then it shouldn't score. The guy attempting the takedown is not dicatating the fight if he is unsuccessful, the guy who successfully defends is dictating where the fight is taking place. If a takedown is scored at the end of the round, and the guy starts to work on top before the bell goes then yeah it should score. But it should be scored not because it was just a takedown but because there was some kind of positional dominance shown at the end of the round, that only stopped because the bell went.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 14:29So if you have basically an even round, then one of the combatant's scores a quick knockdown, the knockdown wouldn't edge the decision for you?

He was literally shitting himself he went to jump in four times previously in the first 30 seconds of the fight. How he got such a great job I will never know. Incompetent.

Adesanya really chaps my ass. Hoping Romero puts his lights out. But I'm not holding my breath.

Hard pressed to find a title fight where I hate both this much. But yeah, fake Silva takes the boobie prize.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑04 Mar 2020, 11:11 Adesanya really chaps my ass. Hoping Romero puts his lights out. But I'm not holding my breath.

Too many people were wrongly imo complaining of a robbery in the Hooker-Felder result. You could definitely argue that Felder should have gotten the win, but it definitely wasn't a robbery. It was too close for it to be a robbery.

Na Tony is very good. Technically not the greatest striker and very hittable, but also very unorthodox at the same time which makes him very effective. He probably is the best lightweight outside of Khabib.Shhhh wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 07:51 Don’t watch much mma these days. But just watched Khabib vs Ferguson press conference and also some fights. Can someone explain Tony to me? He seems like a tosser. Also why is he so dangerous in highlights to me doesn’t look that great. I’m going Khabib that Ferguson is a twat

I think Khabib will probably win but it will be one of his toughest fights he's had. I think Izzy will beat Romero on points fairly comfortably.Shhhh wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 09:11Is he as much of a tool as he was in that press conference or is it just beef and hype lolNondescript wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 08:46

x2. I hope The Gremlin fucks up that sheep herder.
I'd love to see Romero win but I doubt he will. Why is every Nigerian MMA fighter so unlikable?
At work I have interacted with various African coworkers, Ghanaians, Ethiopians, Kenyans and got along well with all of them but the Nigerians are always assholes.

Re: MMA
I don’t have much experience with Nigerian guys but I dated two Nigerian girls a few months apart in 2018 and they were the worst people I’ve ever met, bizarrely both behaved identically; rude, entitled, aggressive and overtly racist. Both were very good looking which was the lure and the second time I thought ‘fûck it can’t be as bad as the first one’ and she was the same, money questions on first date, wanted a surrogate, made racist comments flippantly. Never again.
Re: MMA
fornicate me those two women put on a show. I think J.J. edged but I have no fornicating idea. I can’t remember a fight that was that difficult to score recently.
You could argue all 5 rounds for either really.
Edit: I’m not sure how I feet about Zheng winning tbh.
