Danny Williams in America now versus Joey Abell

Post by funso banjo baby »

This frankly queasy twilight in Danny Williams career now sees him travelling to America to fight ageing brawler Joey Abell.

I do not approve of this at all.

Able can whack. Danny is gonna end up seriously hurt. Looks like he's just gonna keep going until he physically can't anymore! Real shame!

It's nuts mate. There must be something else he can do surely? There's no way he can enjoy it anymore!

Boxing shouldn’t be an entitlement, every commission should view it as a right to be earned. Any commission sanctioning guys like Williams either have, or will have blood on their hands. Boxing’s not a sport, it’s a fight, and the right to compete at the elite end of it - which the pros should be - is a privilege to be earned, not a right to be taken.

Williams is at fault but his judgement is clearly either impaired or biased. Commissions and governing bodies should be impartial and govern accordingly.

Does anyone think that Danny, like Julius Francis, knows what he's doing. I'm not saying he quits but I does go down when hurt these days.

Danny hasn't fought in the UK since 2010. It's a shame he's still fighting, he'll be 47 in a few months and so way past it it's not even funny. I'd fancy my chances against him lol.

A few fights ago he took a 24-0 fighters 0. 22 by KO.

That has to be the worst ever fighter to have a 20+ fight unbeaten record.

Bloody hell. Abell is a huge puncher. This is a very bad idea for all involved.
