Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
Re: Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
Think this will get more negative attention than usual because it’s Joe G. Interesting seeing Quigg say don’t pull me out, and Crolla and L Smith telling Joe to do it.
Jono did look better than normal, it wasn’t just Quigg flattering him.

You'd think Quigg was looking like Bruno on the ropes getting leathered by Lewis or Tyson judging by these comments.

Gutted for Quigg, doesn't seem long ago he was a young pup tearing through the domestic scene, it's never nice seeing fighters look proper shot for the first time, he just doesn't have it anymore, never won a round, couldn't pull the trigger at all, all he has left is his heart which is still fvcking massive in all fairness
Carroll was excellent though I'll admit, I'm not his biggest fan but he was punch perfect tonight, got his tactics spot on, controlled Quigg from the outside, countered him , picked him off, walked him onto some clean left hands, he controlled Quigg with the right all night, he'd land the right hook and spin off to Quigg's left and start again, textbook stuff and fought a great fight, worked the jab well at times and landed some big shots to the body
Joe G should've really stopped it a few rounds earlier it was a lost cause, Quigg was taking clean accurate punches and Carroll was doing as he pleased, Carroll did ease off a bit before the towel came in and I did think Quigg may as well last the distance but maybe better late than never

£40 @ 25s and another £20 @ 50s after the weigh in. Plus the mad acca is still alive.
Feel like I should throw Quigg some nobbins hearing him welling up.
What a great fighter he was coming up at SBW.

That pretty much sums it up nicely!handsofstone wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 18:57 Gutted for Quigg, doesn't seem long ago he was a young pup tearing through the domestic scene, it's never nice seeing fighters look proper shot for the first time, he just doesn't have it anymore, never won a round, couldn't pull the trigger at all, all he has left is his heart which is still fvcking massive in all fairness

Agreed. Fellow professionals/trainers should absolutely call bullshit on these situations.ThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑07 Mar 2020, 19:01 That was the best ive seen coldwell talk! Honest and called it fair. It was horrible
Cheeseman took a good hiding a while back which was uncalled for.
You'd think they spend days in, days out in the gym with these boys that they'd care more about they're safety than the result of the fight.
Re: Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
i think jono is improving every fight, there was times he nearly got drawn in to a scrap toe to toe ,might of been the 5th, but he used his nut ,and boxed and moved
Re: Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
Jono looked fantastic as much as Quigg looked a shell of his former self. He has to retire; sure Carroll will bring excitement into a world title challenge, but by his performance against Farmer, he will get whooped right now.
Re: Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
Yeah true - I'd forgotten that.
Still, considering who he fought and for what, Quigg is perfectly justified in calling himself a "World Champion Boxer" - given there are 4.
He's a Grand Slam Winner for sure.

Frampton is a top notch analyst BTW, hopefully see him regularly when he hangs them up, the new Jim Watt maybe
Re: Round-by-Round: Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll - 7 March 2020
In the first two rounds, Jono looked fantastic. World beater. He got a bit sloppy after that, and let's face it, Quigg didn't bring much tonight.
