Fair scoring and Canelo? Reallypaddy chavez wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 12:34I think BJS has a great chance Vs canelo myself I though kovalev was winning quite comfortably and if there's any remotely fair scoring I wouldn't be shocked if BJS won canelo is great against static fighters but has looked bad Vs movers like BJSNightmare Roy wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 12:19
Canelo is infinitely better than Lemieux though, BJS hasn’t got much of chance
GBP has increased its offer to Billy Joe Saunders to $7.75 million for a Canelo Alvarez

You’d be surprised about the type of Matchroom fight cards that have gained PPV buys exceeding 400K, regardless of their calibre.apollo creed wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 04:54KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Feb 2020, 19:09
I'm not so sure about that EO.
He really doesn't have that big a following. It's a case of the more you see of BJS, the less you want to see of him, and he is what the British would call a "knob". He is on a par with Hughie Fury as far as stinking the joint out. Canelo is the draw card more than BJS in the UK would be my guess. And expect booing from the second round onwards![]()
Spot on.
Stop judging things based on emotion or your personal bias. Instead check the historical figures of UK PPV bouts.
Billy Joe may indeed by a “knob”, but that doesn’t render my words any less true.

Golovkin respected Lemieux's punching power, so he didn't want to take any risks. With the guys you mentioned, he just was trying to finish them knowing that they can't hurt him.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 14:04 Everyone else was hitting younger G more too. Willie Monroe hit GGG way more than Lem could, so did everyone else. Lol Monroe did better vs Saunders than Lem too, judges had that like 116-112 and 116-113 or whatever. Murray, Adama, Geale, etc...all hitting GGG plenty when they threw. Whereas Lem seems to turn everyone into masterclass boxers

BJS should take the money. It is a huge payday, also can make a real name for himself against Canelo. That way get some more ones down the line.
But, really have no clue or don't really care much for Canelo.

I agree, it's a good and fair pay day and if he fancies the job then the potential rewards are huge.

Saunders doesn’t draw in the UK at all, and isn’t considered a PPV fighter here either.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 14:13You’d be surprised about the type of Matchroom fight cards that have gained PPV buys exceeding 400K, regardless of their calibre.

Kell Brook wasn’t a popular fighter when he faced GGG.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 17:14Saunders doesn’t draw in the UK at all, and isn’t considered a PPV fighter here either.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑01 Mar 2020, 14:13

And Canelo is more popular than GGG.
And Saunders is more accomplished and better known on UK shores than Brook was when he fought GGG.
And Sky tend to televise big fights cards as PPV’s, because they usually achieve more than 400K buys, since there are certain set of fans that are always willing to pay to watch bouts.

Big jump from a civic centre in Scotland to Canelo and $7 mill plus ,,,, If he does'nt take it he should go back to Warren and thank him provusly for putting enough money in his bank he can afford to turn this money down .... If he does take it who cares , 2 drug cheats who have handpicked opponents for years getting it on , I'll probably watch it but won't be bothered too much if i miss it

Re: GBP has increased its offer to Billy Joe Saunders to $7.75 million for a Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez has opted to face Billy Joe Saunders next ahead of Callum Smith, according to the Mexican superstar’s head trainer Eddy Reynoso.
“We’re ready for 2 May,” Reynoso told EsNews.
“Saunders,” he added when asked who the opponent would be.
But Saunders’ promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking from Frisco, Texas after Mikey Garcia outpointed Jessie Vargas, insists the deal is not signed just yet.

“We haven’t agreed any terms and we’ve had no contract,” Hearn told IFL TV.
“I went up to Eddy Reynoso tonight and said, ‘who are you fighting? Any chance of us finding out?’ And he said, ‘Billy Joe Saunders’.
“But we haven’t heard from Golden Boy for a couple of days. We’re not a million miles away. Canelo and Reynoso want to fight Billy Joe.”

Don't see how BJS wins this one, he can make it an awkward night for Canelo, but I'm sure Cabelo will find a way to get the W.
As for the money, that's a good offer for BJS, I agree with a couple of the previous posts that highlight the fact he's not that big over here in the UK, and unless it's a blockbuster undercard the only PPV sales will be those that want to see Canelo and a few diehard BJS followers.

DAZN is launching in the UK in May - with Billy Joe Saunders expected to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for the first fight on the streaming service.
The UK-based platform will expand to more than 200 countries, starting with Canelo's return to the ring on May 2.
The price of the service in the UK is believed to be £4.99 per month.

Re: GBP has increased its offer to Billy Joe Saunders to $7.75 million for a Canelo Alvarez
The fight is official. T-Mobile Arena, May 2nd Las Vegas.
We only have eight weeks to wait.
And I'd be intrigued to know if this will be a short training camp for the Brit, since he accepted the bout at relatively short notice (especially considering it's the biggest fight of his career).
I'd expect a couple of weeks disruption for both fighters between now and fight night, as they'll be obliged to attend pressers, interviews etc. to help sell the bout.
This fight was announced six weeks later than Canelo's Cinco de Mayo bout against Jacobs last year (i.e. January 17th versus 6th March).

Both guys will be in training already. Or at least they should be.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑06 Mar 2020, 05:13 The fight is official. T-Mobile Arena, May 2nd Las Vegas.

What was BJS biggest purse ever? What was his last purse? If neither approaching $7.75 M, then he should take it. Maybe he should try & negotiate a few more million on the backside if the fight sells as well as Kovalev/Canelo
