Ridiculous, McG is one of the only opponents who was outlanding Floyd in mutltiple rounds (surely you know fights are scored on rounds), and he hit him with shots far better than anything Canelo landed. This is about comparison to Canelo's fight, and Canelo was totally clowned beyond even Mayweather clowning levels.

So many boxing fans have their panties up their arse about McGregor, lol I bet Tenshin did better too

Of course, McGregor outlanded Mayweather early, when Mayweather toyed with him and was making him to punch himself out. What a great success to be outsmarted and battered afterwards.

Floyd was as sharp as I've ever seen him in the Canelo fight. It was also a stylistic and experience thing going into the Canelo fight. Floyd was light years faster and much smarter. Canelo had always been a counter puncher, there's no way a counter puncher is beating a prime Floyd Mayweather, especially one who's that much slower than him.

McGregors success came from him being awkward and giving Floyd looks he wasn't quite used to, plus McGregor started out really fast and was the bigger man by quite a margin, so Floyd knew he couldn't mix it up with McGregor while he was fresh, so Floyd basically pressured McGregor into being aggressive and gassing himself out.

I don't believe Floyd could have knocked out McGregor at any stage of the fight, despite the gap in boxing skill. McGregor was still physically stronger, bigger and quite fast and is a fighter, so he's not exactly a fragile guy that's going to keel over with the first shot a smaller guy landed. McGregor also seemed a bit faster than Floyd at that stage of Floyds career. That's not to say Floyd couldn't have stood toe to toe with McGregor and even got him out of there a bit faster, but the way he fought McGregor was the less risky route to victory.

Alot of fighters did better than Canelo than Floyd, but Canelo could probably beat just about any fighter that gave Floyd serious problems.

Castillo x2
Maidana
Judah
Corley
Cotto
McGregor
Oscar
Mosley
Pac
McGregor and the 2nd Castillo bouts are irrelevant here.
Castillo 2 is. Castillo in the 2nd bout still did better than Canelo did.

You know losing by decision > losing by getting KOed (except for lucky shots) right?

And there was no ''lucky shot'' in McG fight. Floyd could KO Conor earlier in the round 9, and we all knew Conor wasn't going to survive the round 10, and he didn't.

And don't forget that Floyd has never been a KO artist like Sugar Ray Lenord or Julio Cesar Chavez, he was mainly a defensive fighter who wins by points.

Obviously not, a guy can go the distance and lose every second of every round, while another guy can be super competitive and be winning but get stopped etc. The second is far better

I don't give much credit for going the distance when you do f@ck all

Calling Mayweather-McGregor super competetive is ridiculous in any case.

Didn't say it was, though no doubt more competitive than the fight actually asked about

You said it in the context of this discussion. Of course, providing a highly competetive bout, but getting KOed, is better, than being outclassed and surviving. But why to mention it here, if it's not the case?

You know very well, if a boxer doesn't try to fight, first the referee gives him a fair warning for not fighting, and if he still does that running, then he stops the fight, which is TKO.

If you meant that keeping the distance in an acceptable way, then he can still get KOed no matter what, but in case he didn't even when he was losing the every rounds then that's still an accomplishment for that boxer too, that means he knows how to keep his distance well while not doing anything offensively and at the same time taking the punishment for 12 rounds and still not getting KOed at the same time. Look at how some boxers survives a lucky shot KD after winning the majority of the rounds, surviving that is also an accomplishment (as Fury did against Wilder in Round 12 in the first fight, or Wyhte did against Parker). If you are outmatched like 12-0 in every rounds, you rarely not getting KOed in that situation, that's very unusual, it happens but not everytime.

And Canelo didn't lose every round anyway, or try to run, he won at least 3 rounds, since the judge decided 117-111 (other judges scored even closer than that), and he tried to win the other rounds but he simply failed.

Never said it at all, just disputing a principle that someone claimed to be true that totally isn't true. We see super competitive fights end in stoppages all the time and also uncompeittive ones go to decision

Not at all, they both did far better than Canelo did, did you actually watch the fights?
McGregor only landed single significant punch and then got outclassed and stopped. Canelo at least survived.

Castillo objectively won in the 1st bout, but was handily outboxed in the rematch.
Lol, so every fighter that goes the distance was more competitive than one who was stopped? Think before you type.

McGregor was absolutely diabolical against Mayweather. He was carried for a few rounds then taken out as soon as Mayweather wanted to.

Was waiting for Emanuel Augustus. Hard out for anyone! Castillo absolutely gave him a much harder fight than a very young Canelo. What I do respect about Canelo is he learned a lot from the fight. Don’t think he beat Golovkin but he negated a lot of his power with his movement and shoulder rolling.

Floyd once said Augusutus was his toughest fight, but watching that fight....total beatdown with Augustus really managing nothing.

Lots of boxers did better than Canelo vs FMJ. In my eyes I honestly don't think Canelo won a round.

There was once a point in time when Floyd Mayweather Jr. did indeed say that Emanuel Augustus was his toughest opponent "thus far", but he also subsequently conceded during 2012 that Miguel Cotto was tougher.

I guess the current answer to that question depends on the latest video you can find of him being interviewed.

He barely landed anything in the GGG rematch, just more active. He's matured a bit but also learned some A-side business.
