Welliver, Ferguson win in Idaho

Post by Gnome »

Chauncy Welliver picked up his second win on the Worsley, Idaho last night.

Welliver beat 7(7)-0 Eric Hempstead on points, whose seven opponents had one win between them.

Patrick Ferguson moved to 14-1 after beating journeyman Miguel Cubos, now 11-19.

The fights on the card were generally better matched than the standard usually seen in the Midwest.

Welliver is fighting 19-0 (!) Christopher Lovejoy, who baffingly has a WBA ranking, in Montana on May 30th. Lovejoy only fought against one opponent with a winning record - a 43yo Mexican.

That would be a satisfying win for Welliver should he be able to do it. I dislike Lovejoy for his padded record, his unjustified ranking and his painful delusion.

Maybe a few years ago he would have won, but now Welliver has more padding on his gut than Lovejoy has on his record. He really let himself go.
