Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
Alvarez will now be preparing to flush the PEDs from his system...having known all along who he will fight. Meanwhile BJS doesn't have time now to juice up and clean out in time. It's the Mayweather play.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
I dislike t,he pair of these for different reasons. However I hope, and think, that Canelo will work BJS over in the late rounds for a stoppage.

Ya for sure, BJS is a rotten rotten man, who gives a f@ck if he was born in UK, he doesn't seem to give a f@ck about harassing and being a dick to other brits
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
Who's training BJS now? Didn't he go back with Ben?

A rare occasion of a big fight with a British fighter involved where I'll just go to bed and read about it in the morning. I've said this before but Canelo being 'the face' of boxing makes me yearn for Floyd, who despite being a c*nt was a genuinely amazing boxer. I just don't like Canelo. It's like he looked at all the criticisms aimed at Floyd about his opponents- weight drained, above their natural weight, below their natural weight, on the slide, old, whatever- and then just applied it to his career like it's standard. I mean, you can't beat him on points because the judges are already bought (Even Floyd only got an MD against him, and he shut him out completely) and he's a drug cheat weight bully that's impossible to KO. I'll never like him. I thought he was cool back when he fought Lara, a tough opponent nobody wanted to fight, and he's clearly a hard man. He's just such a product, a diva, and his fans are such dicks. He doesn't mean anything to me. He's not important. The true greats didn't have his level of cushioning. I can't get on board.

It will be on DAZN - £4.99/month in the U.K. and this will launch it for them.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 2 May 2020
Canelo is a superb fighter but with a big astrix regarding PEDS, however, I've no desire to watch BJS run around the ring and stink the joint out again. I'll tune back in when BJS is out of way and Canelo goes back to facing real fighters.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - June 2020
Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders Fight Postponed Until At Least June
Like numerous boxing events in the United States, the Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders fight has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Alvarez and Saunders finalized a deal recently for a fight May 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The promotion of their 12-round fight for Saunders’ WBO super middleweight title was supposed to start Tuesday with a press conference in Los Angeles.
Boxing Scene was informed Monday, though, that the Alvarez-Saunders card has been pushed back until at least sometime in June. It’s possible that it’ll take place even later than June, depending on how long the coronavirus pandemic impacts large gatherings in the United States.
MGM Resorts International, which will host the Alvarez-Saunders show whenever it takes place, announced Sunday night that its casinos and hotels in Las Vegas and elsewhere will close Tuesday for an undetermined amount of time. At least temporarily, MGM Resorts International won’t take reservations for any of its hotels for stays that begin before May 1, the day before Alvarez and Saunders were supposed to fight at T-Mobile Arena.
MGM Resorts International also is the co-owner of T-Mobile Arena, the home venue for the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission determined during an emergency meeting Saturday that all boxing and mixed martial arts events scheduled through March 25 were postponed. The NSAC likely will postpone shows scheduled for beyond that date at its next regularly scheduled meeting, set for March 25 in Las Vegas.
Alvarez-Saunders is the highest-profile boxing event in the United States affected thus far by coronavirus concerns.
Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Alvarez, Matchroom Boxing, Saunders’ promoter, and DAZN will monitor the coronavirus pandemic closely before determining an appropriate date for that fight. They want to avoid postponing it once it is officially announced.
Golden Boy, Matchroom and DAZN intended to announce Alvarez-Saunders for May 2 last week.
Mexico’s Alvarez and England’s Saunders were already training in San Diego and Las Vegas, respectively, before their promoters decided to push back their fight from May 2.
Whenever they square off, Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) will try to add another super middleweight title to his long list of accomplishments.
Alvarez, 29, took the WBA world 168-pound championship from Rocky Fielding in December 2018. England’s Fielding (28-2, 16 KOs) was the WBA’s secondary super middleweight title-holder, though, when Alvarez beat him by third-round technical knockout at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Another Brit, Callum Smith, remains the WBA’s legitimate super middleweight champion. The 29-year-old Smith (27-0, 19 KOs), who won that title by stopping George Groves in the seventh round of their September 2018 bout, had stopped Fielding in the first round three years prior to Alvarez beating him.
Smith was among the opponents Alvarez considered before he chose Saunders (29-0, 14 KOs), a southpaw who has won world titles in the middleweight and super middleweight divisions.
In his last bout, Saunders knocked out Argentina’s Marcelo Coceres in the 11th round November 9 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Saunders trailed on one scorecard before he knocked down Coceres (28-1-1, 15 KOs) three times and stopped him in the 11th round.

Hearn stated a deal is in place for this fight, just depending on the coronavirus now.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - June 2020?
Canelo is an odd one - most people's stand out star, but I think he lost the four biggest fights he's been in - and even the Cotto fight (against a over weight and over the hill Miguel) could have gone either way for me. I think the right man won, but it was very very close and Cotto boxed his brains off for the opening few rounds.
Its an intriguing one this - Saunders has the movement to potentially give Alvarez problems - but, IMO, we don't know enough about Saunders - what is his true level. He's had one stand out performance, but that was against a fighter who whilst good is levels below Canelo. Plus he is a tiny Super Middleweight, so that element will suit Canelo. Got to really go for Canelo by mid round stoppage.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - June 2020?
Hearn explained the situation in an interview with Sky Sports.
“It leaves Billy Joe at the minute with a deal in place to fight Canelo,” Hearn said. “Everything now depends on when the sport begins, because that fight was supposed to take place on Cinco de Mayo [weekend]. Now we know that’s definitely not happening.
“Will boxing return in June, July? If it does, there’s every chance that Billy Joe Saunders will fight Canelo Alvarez in that period, and the date of the Golovkin fight will be put back. I think with the whole disruption, the old Cinco de Mayo and [Mexican Independence Day] will weekend have to take a back seat.”
Alvarez and Saunders already were training for their fight in San Diego and Las Vegas, respectively, when their promoters, Oscar De La Hoya and Hearn, determined their fight could not take place May 2.
“Right now, Billy Joe Saunders is actually in Vegas, training,” Hearn said. “We were supposed to have a press conference on Monday, to announce the Canelo Alvarez fight. He’s out training with Ben Davison and Josh Taylor, who has just had his fight postponed for May 2 as well. No one knows what they’re doing.
“It’s the moment where you’ve got to stay focused, you’ve got to stay disciplined. I believe Billy Joe Saunders will fight Canelo Alvarez, as long as the boxing schedule returns this summer.”

It's been good to watch Canelo improve. First time i saw him was when Miguel Cottos brother had him in all sorts of problems on an undercard. He's come on a lot since then. He's taken tough fights and really improved his defense after the Floyd loss, which he was drained down to 152 for. His stamina used to be shocking but it's improved as well. I think my only real gripe with him is that he cruised though the Matthew Hatton fight. I was really looking forward to seeing Matthew take a hiding in that one. Flattening Khan is a huge plus. Coming out and taking the center of the ring against GGG in the second fight and daring him to have a war had to have won a lot of naysayers over. GGG was on his bike jabbing for the fight.stujones wrote: ↑18 Mar 2020, 10:42 Canelo is an odd one - most people's stand out star, but I think he lost the four biggest fights he's been in - and even the Cotto fight (against a over weight and over the hill Miguel) could have gone either way for me. WBC is going to create a WBC Mazahua-Otomi belt for this bout.
