Ref and the walk forwards

Post by Old bones Ian »

Noticed more and more that refs want a boxer to perform a walk forward or to the side when rising from a knockdown.
I'm not wholly a fan of this , do they inform the boxer before the fight what the instructions will be when the get knocked down.
I don't think they do , one ref recently asked a boxer to walk over to the right , then stopped him when he didn't.

There is an interview with Jack Reiss who explains why he asks boxers (Tyson Fury) to move to the side. Can't seem to find it but he does seem to talk a lot of sense.

I think some refs over complicate it though, boxers get up and don't need dance move instructions

Yeh. He told them both pre-fight and then he said it afterwards too.
