Edward Donovan Signs With Frank's Queensberry Promotions

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Edward Donovan has joined the pro ranks.

The younger brother of Paddy Donovan, the Limerick sensation who is trained and managed by Andy Lee, has teamed up with allegedly.

Donovan was a decorated underage amateur, winning multiple different national titles throughout his career in the vest and headguard.

But the 18-year-old, who also won European Junior gold back in 2016 and represented Ireland on the world stage at various underage tournaments, has elected against following a senior amateur career and turns over relatively young.

He joins his brother-in-law Jason Harty in inking terms with Warren –– who recently clinched the signature of the current British super-featherweight champion Anthony Cacace and former eight-time national champion and Youth Olympic gold medallist Karol Itauma –– along with fellow former amateur standouts John Joyce and Caiomhin Agyarko.

“I am delighted to announce that, after a very successful amateur career of winning multiple national titles and becoming European champion that it’s time for me to enter the pro ranks,” Donovan said online when revealing the news. “I’m even happier to say that I have signed with one of the best promotional groups in the world [in Queensberry Promotions] and allegedly.”

allegedly or his office has yet to comment on the capture of Donovan, whose brother is promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc.

And though the signings are coming thick and fast to the Queensberry Promotions stable, Boxing Scene understands Warren has lost one of his talented fighters to promotional nemesis Eddie Hearn.

It is believed that Zelfa Barrett has crossed the promotional divide, with a formal announcement expected soon, and a source close to the fighter has said that news on a return date for the current Commonwealth champion at super-featherweight will be revealed sooner rather than later.

What's the point in signing all these guys when you're not putting on any shows ?

Apparently Franks about to sign a new lucrative BT Contract - hopefully this translates into more shows.

I appreciate that Fwank is going the approach of building these lads from the ground up, but he’s got a PPV coming up that has no star power.

The contract he has now though was meant to be for 20 shows/year though wasn’t it?

Whilst I’ve been underwhelmed with matchroom’s Sky offering this year, they’ve still supplemented it with the golden contract, their US Matchroom shows and we were meant to get the WBSS cruiser final.

Surely FW could do some deals with other promoters. Some of the MTK shows have been borderline good enough to be on TV.
