Golovkin vs Szeremeta On June 6 In Inglewood, CA

Post by apollo creed »

@BN24

I think G is very vulnerable atm. I won't be surprised if G will have a hard time vs Szeremeta. Against Derevyanchenko, Golovkin looked hurt and beatable. If G is gonna succeed to have a third fight vs Canelo, I see Golovkin being stopped. :verysad:

Any fighter that has never faced any notable opponent, possessing an appalling 23% KO ratio, isn’t going to trouble GGG.

Gennadiy doesn’t need to face Kamil Szeremeta yet. The IBF didn’t force him to take this fight.

He should have faced fellow DAZN stablemate Demetrius Andrade or taken the Sergiy Derevyanchenko rematch.

The DAZN executives should not have sanctioned this fight.

At this stage G doesn't need to take highly risky fights anymore. He needs a stay busy fight and then Canelo III ! G did his hard work and if DAZN is ok with G fighting Kamil then there is all good.

Andrade and Derevyanchenko should fight each other imo. :TU: :box:

I can understand why you feel that way.

However, those that feel the same need to appreciate that others may not consider him one of the top dogs at 160lbs if he prefers to face easy opposition (whilst waiting for the Canelo retirement farewell payday) instead of facing any genuine world-rated talent.

GGG can’t have his cake and eat it.

Depends on whether Canelo is interested in having a 3rd fight. His most recent comments don't suggest he is.

G has 37 y/o. He just wants to cash in as much as he can. He has fought Murray, Lemieux, Jacobs, Canelo x2 and Derevyanchenko. His resume is pretty solid. :TU:

G has a belt and he's still the best 160-175lbs opponent in terms of profile for Canelo. Also Canelo may want to stop G this time to make a statement . :TU:

GGG’s resume is only really impressive from 2017, but he does deserves a ot of kudos for facing the likes of Canelo (twice), Derevyanchenko and Jacobs.

And of course you’re right about Golovkin’s age and wanting to cash-in. Most of us would probably do the same thing if we were in his shoes.

I like the guy, but I want him to hang up his gloves during 2020. If he can’t secure the Canelo rematch this year, then he might as well call it quits and walk away from the sport.

A fighter at his age, with defensive frailties, is a disaster waiting to happen and I’d hate to see his career take a downturn like Roy Jones Jr’s.

That said, GGG has four more bouts left of his deal with DAZN, so he’s probably going to continue fighting for another couple of years, which means that we’ll inevitably be mourning him losing by KO in the near future.

That's sad but it is what it is. Anybody with a brain would want to get the most money. As FMJ said "Boxing is what pays my bills" & "all belts do is collect dust". :TU:

Can fully understand this fight from a GGG perspective, why do anything to jeopardise the main event of the year which would be GGG v Canelo III. An opportunity for Golovkin to hopefully look impressive and ensure the third fight is another 50/50, I seriously hope we do see a sharp and spiteful GGG in this next fight and not further signs of him on the road to decline.

True but G looked poor and hurt against Derevianchenko and I wonder if the Father Time will catch him up even faster against a lesser opponent like Szeremeta?

It'll be a test for him to get up for a fight like this, I hope the discipline, work ethic and motivation that he's shown in his career to this point ensures he takes care of business. The next fight is always your most important (and other similar cliches) and GGG can't afford any slip ups or a lack of intensity against Szeremeta.
