Boxing Trivia/facts to outlast boxing quarantine

Post by joshj909 »

So we're all going to be pretty bored over the next few weeks/months with no events. So, I thought we could get a thread to teach us something or stimulate our brains at least. I guess you can post questions, answers, interesting facts or whatever else boxing trivia related.

I'll start with an interesting fact from myself:
In Thailand's prison system, some inmates participate in fighting matches where the reward is their freedom.

Feel free to share your interesting boxing or boxing related facts/trivia questions....

one i randomly wondered about the other day when mistakenly thinking that Kov fought Eledier and Canelo back to back:

which, if any, world champs made consecutive title defenses against opponents with the same last name as each other(not the same guy back to back)

it's a question, i don't know answers

Guess the fight by commentator's phrase:
"So far this fight has been like a beef stew without the beef."

Both Chris Byrd and Corrie Sanders fought the Klitschko brothers back-to-back. Not sure if there is anyone out there with more than two though.

Not a world title defense but I found another 2-er
Koji Imai fought the Eguchi brothers back to back (suspect this might happen a lot tbh)...

As for something else... Many of the Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) Heavyweight title fights took place outside of Asia... Including the first... Which was in the UK

Jorge Arce had consecutive title defences against guys with the surname Castro, but he did have a non-title fight in between.

Great job!!! I’m saying only HARDCORE FANS had a clue about that little tidbit.

Here’s one...... WHO was the real “mastermind/creator” of one Lennox Lewis? His first OG original coach, the man who originally coached him?
